    GTCC Enrollment Hits 15 043 March 15 GTCC Trustees Name New Campus After Long Time College President March 15 view all Events view all Details The Fire Protection Technology curriculum is designed to provide individuals with the technical and professional knowledge necessary to make decisions regarding fire protection for both public and private sectors It also provides a sound foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection administration and management Course work includes classroom and laboratory exercises to introduce the student to various aspects of fire protection Students will learn technical and administrative skills such as hydraulics hazardous materials arson investigation fire protection safety fire suppression management law and codes Graduates should qualify for employment or advancement in governmental agencies industrial firms insurance rating organizations educational organizations and municipal fire departments Employed persons should have opportunities for skilled and supervisory positions within their current organizations Awards Associate in Applied Science Jamestown day and evening Program Outcomes Upon successful completion of this program the Fire Protection Technology graduate should be able to Perform fire prevention functions Perform fire suppression functions Perform hazardous materials control functions Provide public services Communicate effectively Perform in a professional manner Practice safety in the performance of

    the GTCC Fire Academy provides the basic skills needed for a student to become employed in the fire service The Academy has an aggressive physical fitness program to provide student s with the ability to handle the physical demands of the fire service Student s will also receive basic skills needed to excel in the fire service This is an intense program which requires the student to commit to long hours of rigorous training In order to be accepted into the academy the applicant must complete a GTCC Fire Academy Application and complete a physical agility evaluation A medical physical is required upon acceptance and prior to the start of the Academy The student is responsible for uniforms books and basic equipment SPECIAL NOTICE EFFECTIVE JULY 1 2010 ALL FIRE ACADEMY APPLICANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE PRIOR TO THE START DATE OF THE FIRE ACADEMY NOTICE The 21st Academy Class will begin August 18 2011 Applications for the 21st Fire Academy are no longer being accepted The 22nd Academy Class will begin February 2012 If interested fill out the application send to the listed address and you will be contacted with further information this fall We will provide
