    child safety regulations passing safely the effect of alcohol and drugs on driving and vehicle laws and regulations DDC ADD Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving 8 hour This highly effective driver training program is developed especially for problem drivers By emphasizing the connections between behavior and attitude DDC ADD helps participants to see how reckless driving is a result of their own actions Note All Classes are classroom instruction only All our instructors are certified through the National Safety and Health Council of North Carolina Motorcycle Learn to Ride a Motorcycle North Carolina requires that all motorcycle riders have the M endorsement on their driver s license This requires a written exam and successfully completing an obstacle course on a motorcycle at your local driver s license office Since it is illegal to ride a motorcycle without the endorsement new riders must transport a motorcycle to the examiner to complete the obstacle course or get a learner s permit After successfully completing the Motorcycle Riders Course you can present your course completion card to the license examiner and you will only be required to complete a written exam Self supporting New Riders Classes BRC The Riding Street Skills RSS class is designed for riders with little or no experience or those who want to become safer riders Motorcycles are provided by GTCC The registration fee is 185 00 Classes run Friday 6p 10p and Saturday and Sunday 8a 6p riding time both days Classes meet in the Public Safety Building Room 224 Jamestown Campus Please Note When riding on the range you will need to wear the following 1 A helmet if you have one must be DOT approved 2 Long sleeves shirt or jacket 3 Long pants 4 Fingered gloves 5 Boots or shoes that cover the ankle 6 Eye

    any problems or have questions We can t tell if you don t understand something if you do not let us know You may have to load software required by your instructors You will read and write more than a student taking face to face courses You should have confidence in your reading and writing abilities You must know how to schedule your time wisely Most online students schedule their online class time in their calendars Please note that online courses have WEEKLY deadlines They are not self paced and often require interaction with classmates You understand the meaning of terms like email discussion boards Instant Messenger and podcasts What Equipment You Will Need Successful online students rely heavily on their computers to complete their coursework Please consider the following computer requirements before pursuing this degree You should own your computer rather than use someone else s computer to complete this degree Plan to be on your computer at least 20 hours a week throughout the program Students in the Information Technology program will need a PC not a Mac with Windows and Office 2007 Your computer should be in good working order Online instructors do not give extensions for work that is not completed because your computer is not working It is your responsibility to make sure it s working before you begin the program Some courses require a microphone so that you can talk to your instructors and classmates This can be either a microphone built into your computer or an external microphone or headset The GTCC Bookstore sells a USB microphone headset if you need one You need a strong Internet connection Plan to download attachments listen to sound files stream video and have conversations over your computer Your Internet connection should allow you to do these

    a program is full Once a program is full we will wait list other qualified applicants letting them know when openings become available 5 Am I required to be online at a certain time Generally no Most program courses run on a weekly schedule with students completing assignments at their convenience by a certain deadline Specific professors have different requirements so always check the course syllabus 6 Will I need to purchase textbooks or other materials Yes most classes require textbooks Some classes require additional materials such as a web cam a microphone or a lab kit This information is generally available a month or so before classes start and can be found on the bookstore web site 7 Will I need to come to campus for tests Some instructors may require proctored examinations However you can make arrangements to complete these at other proctoring locations not just on campus To learn more visit http www gtcc edu distance degreeonline proctoring asp 8 I ve been out of school for a while Are there any materials available to help me review for the placement tests Sure The Assessment Center offers workshops to help students review and prepare for placement testing DOWNLOAD our Compass Brochure 9 Which placement tests do I need and where can I take them If you haven t taken the SAT or ACT you will need the COMPASS Algebra Pre Algebra Writing and Reading tests The Office Administration Medical Transcription Office Administration Receiptionist and Software Applications programs require the COMPASS keyboarding test in addition to these other placement tests Placement testing is offered on a walk in basis daily at the Jamestown Campus and at the Greensboro and High Point campuses on specific days throughout the year To learn more visit the Assessment Center s web page
