    for more information Have you considered how long it should be retained in Dataverse See HU Research Data Security Policy Is there a date by which the data should be removed from Dataverse If so consider whether Baker Library should permanently archive the data and add it to collections Please contact Rachel Wise for more information Dataverse recommends including a flat file of the data have you created a flat file Have you explained any tools or software that will be necessary to process visualize the data Have you provided adequate documentation for others to understand your data including how it was developed and how it is intended to be used Have you developed metadata that helps make your data discoverable If you plan to deposit zipped data make sure to test that the data will explode out into usable form by researchers Step 2 Deposit your data into HBS Dataverse What Should My Deposit include Deposits should include all data and documentation necessary to independently read and interpret the data collection These include Data files Documentation Description For more information or help depositing your data please contact Alex Caracuzzo Research Data Collections Librarian How should I prepare my data and documentation Data files Although HBS Dataverse can accept files in most formats KLS encourages depositors to submit flat data files that are accessible using a standard statistical package such as SAS SPSS or Stata Microsoft Excel and ASCII file formats are also common Each variable in the data collection should have a set of exhaustive mutually exclusive codes Variable labels and value labels should clearly describe the information or question recorded in that variable Missing data codes should be defined Identifying information must be removed from the data to protect confidentiality If your project was reviewed by IRB or
