    is housed in Science Hall and Agronomy Hall on the north side of the ISU campus map Teaching Our goal is to prepare undergraduates and graduate students for careers as professional geoscientists through access to world class faculty and facilities Courses are aimed at providing a learning environment that is challenging supportive and experiential with hands on student projects that make use of field and laboratory research facilities Departmental faculty members have been awarded a total of 10 college and university teaching awards since 2000 The Carl F Vondra Field Station the basecamp for a six week summer field course in northwest Wyoming both provides unparalleled learning opportunities for geology and earth science majors and serves as a focal point for an extremely active and generous group of geology alumni Students emerge from our meteorology and geology programs equipped with the tools and expertise to contribute to their professions and society Research Research activity of the faculty spans the physical and chemical processes that control weather climate and evolution of Earth s lithosphere and hydrosphere Major focus areas of this research are societal challenges involving climate change and water resources that lie at the intersection of our geology and meteorology

    Outcomes Assessment ISU Field Camp 2015 ISU Geology Alumni Reunion Photos of Field Camp Renovation Project Student Disability Resources 2015 ISU Geology Alumni Reunion The Department of Geological Atmospheric Sciences is proud to announce that we are well along in our second phase of renovation of the Carl F Vondra Geology Field Station During Phase I which was completed in 2010 we built a fabulous new main building with kitchen dining room classroom and staff quarters For Phase II we are constructing two dormitory buildings each with six bedrooms that can accommodate up to four people as well as a third building with a classroom on one side and a laundry with two toilets and two showers on the other side With this project we will have a world class facility commensurate with the long standing excellence of our field program and that is already being sought out for use by a host of outside academic and industry groups The Phase II renovation was made possible through the generosity of Tom and Evonne Smith with a major supplementary gift from Gary and Sandra Johnson To celebrate this spectacular new field station we invite you to join us at camp this
