    Design and Technology Sound Design Stage Management Theatre Studies BFA Theatre Studies MA PhD MA in Theatre PhD in Theatre History Faculty Minor in Theatre Program News People Professor and Head Alumni Updates Faculty Biographies Places Theatres Tryon Festival Studio Theatre Foellinger Great Hall Colwell Playhouse Armory Free Theatre Amphitheatre Studio and Shops Scenic and Props Lighting Video Acting Dance Costumes Makeup The City Productions Upcoming Productions Past Productions Armory Free Theatre Summer Studio 2012 2013 2011 2012 2010 2011 2009 2010 2008 2009 2007 2008 2006 2007 2005 2006 2004 2005 Apply Contact Us Graduate Undergraduate Policies Bylaws You are here Home Places Theatres Tryon Festival Tryon Festival The Tryon Festival Theatre seats 979 and was designed to facilitate productions of opera dance musical theatre and concerts by soloists and small ensembles The proscenium is 40 feet wide 26 feet high the stage is 35 feet deep to the cyclorama The full stage cyclorama is made of translucent material to allow projections from both front and rear The grid is 88 feet high Behind the cyclorama there is ample space to accommodate a complete stage set making quick scenery changes possible The left and right offstage wings are also large enough to hold additional full settings The stage is entirely trapped in 4 by 8 foot sections Two Spiralift powered forestage lifts can be raised to create a thrust when needed or can be lowered and used as an orchestra pit for fifty musicians In the stage house there is a 24 line manual double purchase counterweight system with 1 000 pound capacity per lineset In addition the Tryon Festival Theatre features a motorized light bridge cyclorama hard tormentor and teaser and cyclorama The Tryon Festival Theatre is equipped with an Electronic Theatre Control Inc ETC Expression III Board
