    Indiana University Request for Funds STEM Initiative Student Organizations Diversity Resources A Z Academic Support and Student Services News Fall 2015 Summer2015 Spring 2015 Fall 2014 Summer 2014 Spring 2014 2013 Diversity Assessment Support Diversity Support a Key Project or Multicultural Initiative Major Gifts and Bequests Create an Endowment Why Support OVPDEMA Contact Us OVPDEMA Resources OVPDEMA Scholars Programs Resources OVPDEMA Scholars Programs 21st Century Scholars Program Bloomington provides resource information that will assist 21st Century Scholars in their academic pursuits including access to academic tutoring and mentoring financial aid and career workshops Groups Scholars Program provides specially selected students with information support and guidance to help them excel in the classroom and beyond Eligible students are the first in their family to attend college with limited financial resources from all racial and economic backgrounds Herbert Presidential Scholars Program offers Indiana s top high school graduates four year renewable scholarships to attend any of IU s eight campuses throughout the state Up to 40 incoming Indiana University freshmen are designated Herbert Presidential Scholars each year Hudson and Holland Scholars Program recruits retains and prepares students with outstanding records of academic achievement strong leadership experiences and a commitment to social justice

    fee remission Career Day This event serves all 9th and 11th graders in Wayne County Indiana Different professionals from various career fields hold presentations on the Indiana University East Campus College for a Day This campus visit program serves all eight graders in Wayne County Indiana These potential students spend an entire day visiting four colleges in Richmond Indiana University East Purdue Program School of Technology Ivy Tech State College Region 9 and Earlham College Students tour each campus and learn about the benefits of pursuing higher education Eastern Indiana College Fair This event brings together approximately 300 high school students from Wayne and Randolph counties and 50 colleges nationally informational booths are set up for students and parents to visit Higher Education Academic Transition HEAT The Higher Education Academic Transition HEAT program matches college students from Indiana University East with high school students from Richmond High School in preparing for the transition to continuing on to college The Office of Multicultural Affairs at IU East is collaborating with Community in Schools Student Advocate at Richmond High School FIND Center to coordinate the program Mentors in the program assist high school students with college preparation Nursing Campus Visit Day Exploring nursing as a career in the 21st century is the theme of the annual Nursing Campus Visit Day The schedule includes a discussion about the nursing profession and career opportunities how best to prepare for nursing while in high school demonstrations and interaction with School of Nursing technology and specific information about the IU East School of Nursing BSN program as well as a popular feature walking conversations time spent with current students who will give the REAL scope The event is open to high school counselors high school students and their parents guardians and others who are interested Richmond High School Dual Enrollment Initiative This is a special initiative whereby credit classes are offered at Richmond High School Classes are taught by high school teachers certified by the respective academic division at IU East The students will earn college and high school credit for the course Senior Interview Project These are high school visits in the spring to talk to seniors who have not decided what to do after graduation IU East Purdue Programs Ivy Tech State College and Earlham College attend these visits and offer the local college options to students Ft Wayne Envision A Bright Future Sponsored by IPFW Multicultural Services Envision A Bright Future EBF is an outreach program designed in two parts One part reaches out and touches students who are in middle or high school The other part is designed to help adults with a high school diploma or G E D Both programs assist in the planning of a college education and the realization of one s own potential Summer Youth Program This program is designed to prepare the high school student for life after high school One day per week we will focus on self awareness and self expression decision making and

    and opportunity requires the presence of a supportive environment that nourishes promotes and fosters inclusion and diversity We provide a variety of services and programs designed to carry out this mission Our goal is to help cultivate an environment where faculty staff students and postdocs can do as often stated by former IU President Herman Wells their best work We achieve this by strategically focusing on three critical areas Recruitment and retention of faculty and staff and recruitment retention and timely completion of undergraduate and graduate students Promoting a welcoming and positive campus climate and Engaging in outreach and advocacy locally and nationally Guidelines OVPDEMA supports high impact projects that foster an inclusive environment one that nurtures diversity broadly defined on all campuses of Indiana University The highest priority will be given to applications that directly address issues related to diversity and inclusion Within OVPDEMA are six IU Bloomington academic and retention support centers and service programs 21st Century Scholars Program Academic Support Centers Groups Scholars Program Hudson and Holland Scholars Program Overseas Study Program Mentoring Services and Leadership Development and nine university wide community and cultural centers and service program resources African American Arts Institute Asian Culture Center First Nations Educational and Cultural Center GLBT Student Support Services La Casa Latino Cultural Center Neal Marshall Black Culture Center Community and Student Engagement Community and School Partnerships and Diversity Education While we encourage partnerships with OVPDEMA s centers and service programs all funding requests must go through OVPDEMA s application process to be considered When requesting funds from the Office of the Vice President for Diversity Equity and Multicultural Affairs applicants are encouraged to seek a sponsor an individual from one of OVPDEMA s centers and service programs or campus unit diversity leader to serve as an advocate for the
