    Management Page Content An education must include training in the scientific empirical method of inquiry used in the social and behavioral sciences as well as the fundamental principles that govern these disciplines These principles influence the processes of human interaction human behavior and social institutions and help to define us individually and collectively as a society An understanding of the principles of the social and behavioral sciences combined with critical thinking enhances an individual s ability to make responsible political moral and social decisions in the modern everyday world Courses that fulfill this requirement explore the nature of individual and collective human behavior the political economic social and psychological structures institutions of human beings and the challenges of developing and sustaining interpersonal and intercultural relationships These courses should provide instruction in the fundamental principles of the scientific method and the subsequent body of knowledge accumulated through its proper application data collection synthesis and analysis Such courses should encourage students to develop a healthy skepticism of explanations of human behavior human interaction and social institutions which lack rigorous examination by qualified social scientists and or are based upon faulty scientific methodology or unclear thinking Thus courses that fulfill the social and

    quality as our traditional on campus courses and are taught by our exceptional faculty Moreover your degree certificate and transcript will be identical to those earned by our on campus students IVC offers a large and diverse selection of distance education classes to hundreds of students each semester Many of our General Education courses can now be taken online and new courses are being added to the DE program each semester All of our online courses are Internet based Blackboard is the course management system CMS used for our online courses although a few instructors may use other systems or portals Blackboard allows instructors to place course materials on a password protected site that only students who are registered for the class can access Once a student registers for a class they will be automatically added into the Blackboard system within 72 hours The course will become available on the date listed in the class schedule and students will then be able to access the course anytime during the day or night from any computer with an Internet connection All courses have a required course specific orientation This information is located on the Class Schedule The course specific orientation varies according to each course and instructor samples To access course specific online orientation info click on Required Online Course Orientation for All Online Classes on the navigation pane at the upper left Then you may navigate to the Class Schedule to access your specific class section with the required course specific orientation info We also offer hybrid courses which combine traditional on campus and online instruction This reduces the amount of time that students actually need to come to campus because much of the class work is done online The on campus meeting times for these courses are listed in
