    Commercial real estate Agriculture and conservation Alumni Pauahi Foundation Giving opportunities About us About Kamehameha Schools About Pauahi Trustees and executives I Mua Newsroom Publications and resources Kamehameha Schools Strategic Plan 2015 2020 Kamehameha Publishing Charles Reed Bishop Trust Find a job at KS Join our mailing list Contact us Holoua Stender Ed D Executive Vice President of Education HOLOUA STENDER Ed D Executive Vice President of Education Dr Robert Holoua Stender was named the executive vice president of Education in May 2015 Stender is responsible for leading all Kamehameha Schools educational programs including preschools K 12 campuses community education and the Ho okahua Cultural Vibrancy Group Stender previously served beginning in January of 2012 as the po o kula at Kamehameha Schools Hawai i becoming just the second head of school in the campus history Prior to moving to KS Hawai i Stender spent 32 years at KS Kapālama beginning his stay in 1979 as a teacher in the high school Social Studies department He would go on to serve in a variety of leadership positions such as Explorations program director Performing Arts department head and elementary school vice principal and then principal Stender grew up on Kewalo Hawaiian Homestead and learned Hawaiian culture and lelo at an early age In 1979 he achieved the level of kumu hula He is credited with founding Ka Pā Hula o Hi iaka i Mololani while serving as a lecturer in Hawaiian language religion and history at Windward Community College as well as Ka Pā Hula o Kamehameha at KS Kapālama Stender received his doctorate in education from the University of Southern California where he formerly served as an adjunct assistant professor He also holds a master s degree in education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a bachelor s

    and conservation Alumni Pauahi Foundation Giving opportunities About us About Kamehameha Schools About Pauahi Trustees and executives I Mua Newsroom Publications and resources Kamehameha Schools Strategic Plan 2015 2020 Kamehameha Publishing Charles Reed Bishop Trust Find a job at KS Join our mailing list Contact us Darrel R Hoke Executive Vice President of Administration DARREL R HOKE Executive Vice President of Administration Darrel Hoke was named executive vice president of Administration for Kamehameha Schools in April 2015 Hoke is charged with ensuring that KS operates as a high performing Native Hawaiian organization as it strives to reach the goals of its 2020 Strategic Plan His group oversees Human Resources Information Technology Education Operations and Facilities Development and Support Prior to being named executive VP Hoke was Kamehameha s director of Internal Audit since July 2002 In that capacity he helped KS trustees carry out their fiduciary responsibilities through independent objective assurance and consulting support During his 13 year stint as Internal Audit director he gained an in depth understanding of the operations policies and practices that support Kamehameha s endowment portfolio of financial assets and commercial real estate He also gained extensive knowledge of the framework of KS operating budget that supports three K 12 campuses 30 preschools multiple community education programs and collaborations and a spectrum of administrative functions Hoke also brings with him more than 14 years of experience in the public accounting and finance industries Prior to coming to Kamehameha he was an audit manager at Ernst Young followed by senior vice president at the Bank of Hawaii overseeing budgeting cost accounting and risk based management reporting Hoke earned a bachelor s degree in accounting from Seattle University and is a certified public accountant He is a graduate of St Louis School and currently serves as a

    Publications and resources Kamehameha Schools Strategic Plan 2015 2020 Kamehameha Publishing Charles Reed Bishop Trust Find a job at KS Join our mailing list Contact us Kāʻeo Duarte Ph D Vice President of Community Engagement and Resources KĀʻEO DUARTE Ph D Vice President of Community Engagement and Resources Kā eo Duarte was named vice president of Community Engagement and Resources in April 2015 He oversees the new operating group that emerged as a result of Kamehameha s Strategic Plan 2020 The Community Engagement and Resources Group involves engaging people and place The group serves as the nexus of KS programs services and lands with the systems and communities the organization seeks to interact with and elevate The creation of this team demonstrates Kamehameha s commitment to a community based approach to serving the Lāhui The approach involves listening collaborating designing and implementing educational and well being strategies that better address the specific needs of individual communities Duarte s group oversees KS resources in nine regions statewide including more than 360 000 acres of agricultural and conservation lands community resource centers and sustainability initiatives Prior to being named VP Duarte served as KS senior director for its West Hawai i Region He oversaw endowment and educational programs in the region in an effort to unify and elevate people programs and land assets for more effectiveness and impact in the region Prior to that he served as West Hawai i director of Strategic Initiatives and led regional transition efforts for KS in West Hawai i which spanned both educational and endowment aspects of strategy management and operations From 2009 to 2013 Duarte was KS regional asset manager on Hawai i island He joined Kamehameha in 2004 as a water resources manager Duarte hails from the ahupua a of Holualoa Kona on Hawai
