  • Visual & Performing Arts Venues | Millikin University
    Wheel Chair Accessible spaces accompanied by six Handicapped Accessible seats The auditorium is built with no obstructions within the house so that every seat in the auditorium has excellent visibility of the stage The proscenium opening measures 53 feet by 23 feet From the audience you can view the pipes of the Austin Organ located in the house right loge Three other pianos are available within Kirkland Fine Arts Center including two Steinway Grands and a Baldwin Grand Albert Taylor Theatre The Albert Taylor Theatre is located in the historic Shilling Hall The 269 seat auditorium was built as Millikin University opened in 1902 Renovations to the theatre were completed in 2006 and include Handicapped Accessible and Wheel Chair Accessible seating Annual productions by the Millikin University Department of Theatre Dance School of Music and Opera Program are all held in this theatre Lectures classes and rehearsals are also held in the facility Kaeuper Hall Kaeuper Hall is located in the Perkinson Music Center The 167 seat auditorium was named after Hermann Kaeuper the first Director of the School of Music The handicapped accessible hall hosts weekly School of Music recitals guest instrumental and vocal performances opera rehearsals and other intimate concerts Blue Connection Opened in 2003 Blue Connection is Millikin University s retail art gallery located in the Madden Arts Center in Downtown Decatur Focused on arts and speciality businesses the retail location is used by students in Millikin s Arts Entrepreneurship Program to grow their businesses Products are conceived designed and or crafted by the students who sell them BC Studios BC Studios is Millikin University s arts and business incubator located in the lower level of Blue Connection As part of their coursework in ET380 The Art of Entrepreneurship students must design and pitch a new business model with a home in BC Studios Students who pass the pitch stage receive a studio or retail space at Blue Connection and are open to the public during special events Businesses not receiving a space still participate in the program selling from online and off site locations Perkinson Art Gallery The Perkinson Art Gallery is a premiere venue for the exhibition of visual art and cultural events in central Illinois Perkinson Gallery hosts a wide range of exhibitions that focus on work by professional artists from Illinois and the Midwest in addition to work by artists with national recognition Artists who have exhibited in Perkinson Gallery include John Fraser Frances Hynes Lynne Cohen Anita Jung Michael Onken Harold Boyd David Bower Todd DeVries and Ray George among others The gallery has 2 000 square feet of floor space with 132 linear feet of wall space Perkinson Gallery also hosts annual student and faculty exhibitions Patrons may view the displayed work daily Mon Fri 12 00 p m to 5 00 p m Studio Gallery The Studio Gallery is located in Kirkland Fine Arts Center between the Painting and Printmaking studios It is a multi functional gallery space used for
