    away from home Room changes are not usually made over the summer You will be asked to stay in your assigned room for the first 10 days of classes Most students end up really enjoying their room and roommate assignments so don t be worried or nervous Just jump in and give the experience a chance Do I need to purchase renter s insurance It is smart to purchase a renter s insurance policy for the personal property computers electronics jewelry instruments within your residence hall room The University is not responsible for loss damage or theft of items in your room Check with your parent s homeowners insurance they may cover your items If not please contact your family insurance agent to purchase a policy Most policies are very affordable National Student Services Inc offers a very affordable plan for college students with premiums starting at just 39 per year Access more information at www nssi com Computers and Technology Should I bring my own computer While you are not required to bring your own computer Millikin has several computer labs and printing facilities throughout campus some are available 24 7 for student use Does Millikin have wireless Internet access Yes Wireless access is available across the entire campus including all classrooms residence halls offices dining sports and performance venues and the outdoor quad in the center of campus Check out the IT website for more details How does my ID card work Your ID card serves many purposes so be sure to carry it at all times It will give you access to your residence hall allow you to check out books at the library and serve as your debit card for your meal plan It is crucial that you validate your ID card on Move In Day this lets Millikin know you re a registered student activates your card so you can eat on campus and grants you access to buildings and classrooms throughout campus Health and Counseling Where do I go if I get sick The Millikin DMH Health Clinic and Counseling Services are located on campus just across from the Decatur Indoor Sports Center DISC The Clinic is available to all enrolled students from 9 a m to 4 p m Monday through Friday Schedule an appointment ahead of time to avoid waiting Medical services are billed to insurance Offered Medical services Allergy injections Evaluation and treatment of medical illness injury Medication management Onsite clinical laboratory Physical examinations Screening for blood pressure glucose and cholesterol STD screening TB skin tests Vaccine administration Wellness and preventative medicine Wound care Counseling Services Millikin also provides a confidential and professional counseling service for students We employ two licensed counselors who are available by appointment to assist students with everything from common transition issues and anxiety to more serious mental health concerns Staff members utilize an approach that emphasizes personal responsibility prevention intervention and a concern for the whole student It is our goal to assist students in improving

    to Millikin University International Recruitment Office 1184 West Main Street Decatur IL 62522 USA Deadlines To be considered for admission to Millikin your application and ALL supporting documents must be received by the Application Deadline Schedule Fall Admission Application Deadline June 1 Spring Admission Application Deadline November 1 Special Immersion and Summer Admission Please contact the International Office Start Your Application International Admission Criteria Academic Records Your application must be supported by official academic credentials These include mark sheets grade reports or transcripts of all secondary and post secondary work you completed Documents must be original bearing the official seal of the institution and the signature of the registrar or designated official or each photocopy submitted must bear an original certification and original ink signature of the registrar or designated official If the original academic document is not recorded in English it must be accompanied by a certified English translation that is a literal and complete interpretation of the original document Recommendations You must submit Two 2 letters of recommendation either in English or with an English translation with your Application for Admission One letter should be from your guidance counselor or headmaster and one from a teacher who knows you well A one page statement that describes your educational background plans and objectives at Millikin and your career goals must be submitted with the Application for Admission Certificates of Finances Certificate of Finances must be completed before the Certificate of Eligibility Form I 20 is issued The University is required by immigration authorities to carefully check financial resources of each student prior to issuing Form I 20 Therefore it is important that you Know the costs of attending the University and have the necessary support funds for the entire period of enrollment Have a Confidential Financial Statement form must be completed signed by the sponsor and must bear an official stamp and signature of the bank official Before you complete the Confidential Financial Statement Review the estimate of institutional costs and living expenses List the total amount of funds available to the student for each year All questions on the financial statement must be accurately answered to avoid unnecessary delay in processing If receiving a scholarship grant or loan you must submit a signed copy of the award letter or signed affidavit from an authorized person indicating degree objective and the amount and duration of the funding English Proficiency Regardless of citizenship applicants whose first language is not English must generally take one of the following exams and achieve the indicated scores in order to demonstrate English proficiency During the admission process we assess your English language level and recommend the best pathway to your preferred degree Millikin s entry requirements Direct Admission Conditional Admission IELTS Academic 6 0 no band less than 5 5 5 no band less than 5 TOEFL Paper based 550 TWE 4 0 500 TOEFL Internet Based Test iBT Overall score of 79 Overall score of 61 Conditional Admission and the English Language Center
