    inserted sustainability into the heart of what Nike does with a series of real world changes that instituted design engineering and production changes across the entire value chain As one of the foremost hands on experts on the process of steering a large and successful company toward more environmental and financial sustainability she speaks with passion about the innovative practices that can turn a company doing business as usual into a company that leads the way in corporate social responsibility In her years at Nike she led several company wide initiatives including a holistic business re alignment effort within the Nike brand Her dedicated work in sustainability was in part inspired by her early trips to Nike contract factories around the world where she learned firsthand about the health of workers and the production practices that could be improved As a result of her work and setting their 2020 goals in 1999 Nike is striving to eliminate all aspects of waste and harmful substances and is working to ensure their products and materials are captured in closed loop systems A program director for Willamette University s Executive Development Sustainable Enterprise Program Winslow s message is driven by the need to develop and implement more environmentally and socially sustainable business strategies across an organization She is the founder of Designs for a Sustainable World Collective LLC a firm that focuses on the development of practical yet aggressive strategies for organizations to create and adopt more sustainable and ultimately regenerative business practices Winslow recently participated in the 2009 Inspire Antarctic Expedition hosted by British Petroleum and led by polar explorer Robert Swan She played a vital role in helping to shape the program activities and in bringing depth and experience to the dialogue regarding climate change and the growing vulnerability of natural

    in May of 2007 At IBM his primary focus was on innovation and technical strategy He was responsible for identifying emerging technologies and marketplace developments critical to the future of the IT industry and for organizing appropriate activities in and outside IBM in order to capitalize on them Wladawsky Berger led a number of IBM s companywide initiatives including the Internet and e business supercomputing Linux and Grid computing He continues to consult for IBM on major new market strategies like Cloud Computing and Smart Planet In March of 2008 Wladawsky Berger joined Citigroup as a strategic advisor helping with innovation and technology initiatives across the company He is helping to formulate Citigroup initiatives related to the future of global banking including mobile banking Internet based financial services and financial systems modeling and analysis Wladawsky Berger is an adjunct professor in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at the Imperial College Business School and a Senior Fellow at the Levin Institute of the State University of New York He is a member of the InnoCentive Advisory Board the Spencer Trask Collaborative Innovations Board the Board of Directors of the Federation of American Scientists the Visiting Committee for the Physical Sciences Division at the University of Chicago and the Board of Visitors of the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin Wladawsky Berger was co chair of the President s Information Technology Advisory Committee as well as a founding member of the Computer Sciences and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council He is a former member of the University of Chicago Board of Governors for Argonne National Laboratories of the Board of Overseers for Fermilab and of BP s Technology Advisory Council Wladawsky Berger is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

    Management Professor of Managerial Communication and Work and Organization Studies Biography Selected Publications JoAnne Yates is the Sloan Distinguished Professor of Management and a Professor of Managerial Communication and Work and Organization Studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management She developed MIT Sloan s Managerial Communication curriculum Now after five years as Deputy Dean followed by a sabbatical she has returned to the classroom to teach the Communication for Managers core course Her research examines communication and information as they shape and are shaped by technologies and policies over time in both contemporary and historical organizations In her work on contemporary organizations she collaborates with Wanda Orlikowski of MIT Sloan s Information Technology group and various students and researchers to study how groups and organizations use communication and information technologies and how that use shapes their work Specific studies have looked at the use of technologies such as electronic mail instant messaging the BlackBerry and corporate blogging Her most recent single authored historical book Structuring the Information Age Life Insurance and Technology in the Twentieth Century provides insight into the largely unexplored evolution of information processing in the commercial sector and the underrated influence of corporate users in shaping the history of modern technologies She is currently collaborating with her husband Craig N Murphy professor of political science at Wellesley College on a study of the history of voluntary consensus standard setting An initial short book has already emerged out of that project Craig N Murphy and JoAnne Yates The International Organization for Standardization IS0 Global governance through voluntary consensus London Routledge Press 2009 and another longer scholarly book is in process Yates holds a BA from Texas Christian University as well as an MA and a PhD from the University of North Carolina JoAnne Yates is the Sloan
