    Co op is considered full time Units for transfer credit advanced standing credit and advanced placement credit are not included in the calculation of registration load Fall and Spring Terms Calculation of registration load for fall or spring term Full time 36 or more units Three quarters time 27 35 units Half time 18 26 units Less than half time under 18 units Note when calculating tuition full tuition is charged when you register for 32 units or more in a term including units for Listener and ROTC subjects This differs from registration load for which full time is 36 units or more not including units for Listener and ROTC subjects IAP January Independent Activities Period Registration load is not tracked or reported for the January Term IAP When MIT provides student enrollment information IAP is included in the dates for fall term and the fall term registration load is applied to IAP whether or not the student registers for IAP For example if you are registered for a full time load in Fall Term 2011 12 you are considered full time from 07 Sep 2011 to 03 Feb 2012 from the first day of fall term classes to the last day of IAP whether or not you register for IAP Summer Session Undergraduates registered in the spring term who do not graduate or withdraw retain student status throughout the summer whether or not they register for summer session Return to Top Graduate Students Regular graduate students are considered full time if charged full tuition Regular graduate students not charged full tuition non resident graduate students and special graduate students have a registration status based on the following calculation Note Units for Listener and ROTC subjects are not included in the calculation Fall and Spring Terms Full time 36 or

    Maintenance Majors and Minors Transfer Credit Grades Student Status Tuition and Fees Home Registration Full time Registration If Registration Load is Less Than Full time On this page Information for Undergraduate Students Information for Graduate Students Undergraduate Students Carrying a registration load of less than full time 36 units may affect financial aid loan deferments compliance with immigration regulations eligibility for varsity athletics and external health insurance requirements Registration load does not include units for ROTC subjects or subjects taken as a Listener However the units for Listener and ROTC subjects are included in the calculation of tuition charges If undergraduates have been awarded financial aid and are registering for fewer than 36 units they should consult the student financial aid staff in Student Financial Services 11 320 about possible adjustments in financial aid International students are required by immigration regulations to be registered full time when school is in session in order to maintain legal status in the US Students should check with the International Students Office if they have any questions To be eligible for varsity athletics undergraduates must be registered full time Only seniors in their final term who have submitted a degree application are allowed to participate with a registration load less than full time For questions regarding varsity athletics eligibility contact DAPER Sports Administration 617 253 5006 Undergraduates on a term of co op or on approved Study Abroad Domestic Study Away are considered to be full time Return to Top Graduate Students All regular graduate students are presumed to be full time and are charged full tuition except for cases described in Graduate Polices and Procedures Regular graduate students who are not charged full tuition non resident graduate students and special graduate students are considered less than half time if taking fewer than 18

    Early Thesis Withdrawal Prior Years Tuition Information Home Registration Tuition and Fees Undergraduate Fall and Spring Tuition 2015 2016 Full Regular Tuition Full regular tuition per term for fall and spring is 23 200 Payment of full tuition in either fall or spring terms also covers subjects offered for academic credit during the January independent activities period IAP Undergraduate students registering for academic credit during the summer session are charged per unit of registration as detailed on the Summer 2015 Tuition page Light Load Tuition With the approval of their Faculty advisor undergraduates may take a reduced load of subjects light load for up to two semesters Students exercising this option are charged per unit of registration The charge is 725 per unit There is a minimum charge of 4 350 which covers up to 6 units of registration Registration for 32 or more units will be assessed the full tuition charge Please refer to the instructions for submitting a light load form For students registering for SB thesis only there is a minimum charge of 1 932 which covers 2 units of registration Registration for more than 2 units will be charged at the rate of 725 per unit up to a maximum of 23 200 Off campus Internship Undergraduate students participating during either fall or spring term in off campus internship programs approved by the Provost s Office will be charged 35 of the maximum tuition charge The current charge is 8 120 Pro rated Tuition in Case of Withdrawal Information about tuition pro ration for students who withdraw during a term is available on these Pro ration tables Spring 2015 Summer 2015 Fall 2015 Spring 2016 Special and Non Institute Visiting Students Special undergraduate students and non Institute undergraduate visiting students should refer to the tuition and
