  • Admissions Information - Short Programs - MIT
    MIT Industrial Liaison Program ILP member companies are eligible for a 15 tuition discount To receive the discount contact your Industrial Liaison Officer at MIT for the discount code This code should be entered in the field for promotional codes at the bottom of the course application form If you don t know whether your company is an ILP member check the member list at ILP Wesbite where you will also find a list of Industrial Liaison Officers In cases where more than one discount is applicable only the largest discount will be applied Back to Top Cancellations Transfers and Refunds Please note that submitting the application form does constitute enrolling in the program if you are accepted and the below cancellation penalties will be applied For this reason we encourage applicants to have their attendance and funding approved by their company institution prior to applying Program acceptance cannot be deferred to subsequent years If you are unable to attend your course please review our cancellation transfer and substitution policies below Cancellations must be submitted using the Cancellation Request Form and charges will be assessed as follows once received by the MIT Professional Education Short Programs office Cancellations received more than 42 days prior to the program are subject to a cancellation fee of 250 Cancellations received 22 41 days prior to the program are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50 of the program tuition Cancellations received fewer than 22 days prior to the program are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 100 of the program tuition Registrants who do not show up for their course will be charged full tuition No refund of tuition will be made to those who arrive late or leave before completing a program for which they have been registered Registrants who have submitted payment prior to their cancellation will be eligible for refunds according to the schedule of cancellation penalties listed above Requests to transfer to another course offered by Short Programs will be considered on a case by case basis Any transfer requests received fewer than 15 days prior to the program will be subject to a transfer fee equal to 25 of the program fee Registrants will also be charged any difference in cost between the original and new program If you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered you may contact the Short Programs office to request a transfer to another participant within the same company The substitute participant must submit a new application form Short Programs courses are occasionally cancelled because faculty become unavailable or enrollment is not sufficient to run The Short Programs office tries to announce cancellations at least four weeks in advance Tuition will be refunded but MIT Professional Education is not liable for travel expenses We strongly recommend that you book accommodations from the suggested list on our Accommodations webpage and that you book directly with the hotel to facilitate any cancellation and or refund requests Most of the

    a single twin sized bed Guests are provided with sheets and a blanket a dresser a closet and a desk A few doubles are available to accommodate two guests Bathrooms are shared with both students and other professionals and are located outside the room The non smoking co ed building offers a lounge common area self service laundry room and limited linen service sheets changed weekly towels daily Please note that dormitory housing does not have air conditioning Summers in Boston Cambridge can be quite humid so please keep this in mind when considering staying at the MIT dorm Dorm rooms do not have room service room televisions or radios or kitchen facilities Please note that telephones are not available in individual rooms hallway phones are for emergencies and local calls only The building is locked but staff are on duty 24 hours a day seven days a week The dorm rooms offer free wireless internet access During registration you will be provided with information regarding how to access the MIT wireless system Reservations Room reservations are run by MIT Conference Services To make alter or cancel a reservation please go to the Online Application Reservations are on a first come first served basis and subject to room availability Dormitory reservations must be received at least three weeks in advance of your intended arrival date Requests made less than three weeks before arrival cannot be accommodated Dormitory housing is only available between June 8 and August 8 Dorm stays begin the day prior to the program Checkout is 11 00 am on the final day of the course Occupants Only participants in courses offered by MIT Professional Education Short Programs are allowed to reserve dormitory rooms through our office We are unable to accommodate requests to house family members or any other non participant Children under 12 years of age and pets are not allowed in the dormitory Children 15 years of age and older are charged the adult daily rate Any children under 18 must be housed in the same room as a parent or other chaperone No dormitory employee is authorized to modify these regulations If you will be traveling with children under the age of 12 please refer to our hotel or other accommodations listings or visit the MIT Temporary Housing web page Payment Program fees must be received by Short Programs before dormitory reservations will be processed Rates for 2015 Single 82 per night Double 108 per night Additionally there is an 8 50 access card charge Additional Information For any further questions regarding dormitory accommodations please contact MIT Conference Services Back to Top Other Accommodations Cambridge can be very busy in the summertime If you are having trouble finding accommodations close to MIT or lodging that is affordable you may consider a hotel that is easily accessible to the MIT campus via public transportation If you have any questions please contact the Short Programs office Sheraton Boston Hotel 39 Dalton Street Boston MA 02199 Distance

    ve been accepted into the course We will notify you via email whether or not your application has been accepted If you are accepted into a course you will receive an acceptance letter and invoice via email If you are a not a U S resident or citizen you will also receive information regarding obtaining a visa In most cases this will occur within a few days after we receive your application If you do not receive an email notifying you of your status within five business days please contact us What are the criteria for admission There are no general admission requirements though a few courses may have prerequisites All applications are reviewed to ensure that the applicant will benefit from the course I ve applied and been accepted into a course now what do I do First you should pay the course tuition Tuition is due immediately upon receipt of the invoice If this is not possible please contact us immediately after you receive the invoice to make arrangements Regardless of any alternate arrangement full tuition must be paid prior to the course start date If you will require a visa to visit Cambridge please view the section below related to the visa process and requirements for attending a Short Programs course Next you should find accommodations Cambridge can be very busy in the summertime so it is best to book your accommodations early There are a number of local hotels within walking distance of campus For information on where to stay during your visit to MIT please visit our accommodations page We do not recommend booking your hotel reservations through third party booking agents Please call the hotels directly and ask for the MIT rate You should expect additional information via email from the Short Programs office about 2 3 weeks before your course start date notifying you where to go for registration and what time to arrive In most cases registration will be held on Monday morning in on MIT campus near our office exact location will be provided in the pre arrival email Please add shortprograms mit edu to your trusted senders list to ensure you receive all course related communications How will I receive information about the course once I ve applied The MIT Professional Education Short Programs office communicates with participants via email Once you have applied please add shortprograms mit edu to your trusted senders list to ensure you receive all course related communications What is the application deadline It is highly recommended that you apply for a course at least 4 6 weeks before the course start date Courses with low enrollment may be cancelled If you are able to access the online application form then registration for that particular course is still open See Courses by Date or Courses by Topic for links to the course description pages I can t attend on the scheduled date Can I transfer into a different course Yes but transferring an acceptance from one course to another must be approved in advance by the Short Programs office as additional fees may apply Please contact us to request a transfer I will be too busy to attend Can my company send someone else in my place Yes but the Short Programs office must be notified and your substitute must submit an application Please contact us to request a substitution I was admitted and have paid but cannot attend this year Can I come next year instead Admission and tuition cannot be deferred to a subsequent year however you may cancel your registration and reapply the following year The Admissions page details our cancellation policy I am a college undergraduate Can I attend The level of experience and education expected of course participants varies for each course If you visit a course description page you will see a graph that indicates the level of knowledge expected In general our courses are better suited to professionals with some experience in their fields I am a high school student Can I attend Our courses are not designed for high school students and we do not encourage them to apply The MIT website lists several excellent programs for secondary school students Back to Top Finances How much is tuition Tuition varies by course but you can expect to pay 900 1 000 per day or 1 800 5 500 per course Tuition does not include housing and generally does not include any meals See the course descriptions for the specific tuition See
