    and many other businesses shaping communications and community engagement strategy 3 Why did you select the NC State Jenkins MBA program I really found the practicum and hands on curriculum to be a pragmatic and valuable way to learn new material After an early career in communications getting the chance to work on actual supply chain focused projects was a strong draw Combined with the investment and growth of the program pursuing my MBA at NC State was a great decision 4 Why did you select the supply chain management concentration how does it align with career goals After working in the global transportation and logistics industry I really wanted to develop a more dynamic and deeper skill set relevant to this and the broader supply chain industry This concentration reflects an organized proven and well developed platform in which I can gain direct relevant experience and knowledge with the benefit of a focused pathway of courses in the concentration 5 What would you say to a prospective MBA student or an MBA student considering involvement with the SCRC I would recommend the concentration as one of the most interesting course of study relevant to the demands of the marketplace With the growth and formalization of supply chain studies the concentration offers exposure to a broad spectrum of supply chain activities and career paths The relationships and industry engagement of the SCRC adds further value as the experience you gain during the program is through working with industry leading companies and organizations 6 Where did you intern this summer Did it align with your supply chain education if so how I interned as an operations project management intern at Biogen a Cambridge MA based biotechnology firm with a large manufacturing and technical development campus in RTP Much of my work

    to coming to NC State for my MBA I worked at the Logistics Company Kuehne Nagel At Kuehne Nagel I worked on multiple customer accounts including Apple Terex and Carl Zeiss Also I completed my undergraduate degree at NC State with a BS in business administration focusing on Supply Chain and Finance 3 Why did you select the NC State Jenkins MBA program The main reason I chose to return to NC State for my MBA was because of the strong Supply Chain program they offer After completing my undergraduate degree as well as my professional experience I wanted to continue and advance my career in supply chain I knew NC State in collaboration with the SCRC would help me reach my career goals The scholar program was very attractive to me because it provides hands on experience in the supply chain field with top global companies 4 Why did you select the supply chain management concentration how does it align with your career goals I first became interested in supply chain as an undergraduate and got involved in the SCRC I did my undergraduate practicum with Bayer CropScience and really enjoyed the real work experience alongside my classroom studies Prior to my MBA I was working in the supply chain field Being able to continue working with a partner company while going to school full time will provide me with the platform to advance my career 5 What activities do you like to engage in outside of school Outside of school I enjoy outdoor activities including going to the beach mountains and skiing I enjoy NC State football as well as the Carolina Panthers 6 What does being a scholar mean to you with regard to the mission vision and philosophy of the SCRC To me being a scholar

    worked 7 years at The Pantry Inc which is a Fortune 500 convenience store retailer with over 1 500 stores I held various roles in Retail Operations and Category Management My final roles were in Category Management of several Consumer Goods categories where I was responsible for 140 million in sales annually 3 Why did you select the NC State Jenkins MBA program I selected the Jenkins MBA Program mostly because a close friend of mine is an alumnus of the program and spoke very highly of her experience In addition I was familiar with the program since North Carolina State University is my alma mater The value the program offers is by far the best in this area of North Carolina The program also has a strong reputation in Supply Chain Management 4 Why did you select the supply chain management concentration how does it align with your career goals The Supply Chain program at North Carolina State University is one of the top ranked programs in the US and has strong relationships with partner companies I selected this concentration as Supply Chain management is becoming increasingly more important to all businesses in order to remain competitive Having this understanding of Supply Chain Management principles will give me an advantage in my career no matter which path I ultimately take Supply Chain or Marketing 5 What activities do you like to engage in outside of school Outside of school I enjoy spending time bass fishing with my Dad While I enjoy spending the time outdoors bass fishing also requires some strategic thinking to pinpoint the location and depth of the fish as well as the best lure presentation Plus a little healthy competition with your father is always fun too 6 What does being a scholar mean to you

    way to combine my passion for environmental protection and business After this realization I went to go work for the Center for Environmental Farming Systems as their Program Assistant for their Sustainable Agriculture Internship While overseeing 15 interns from around the world I got to see first hand how sustainable local agriculture protected the environment and provided in many cases successful product that allowed farms to be financially sustainable As I continued with CEFS as their Administrative Assistant I began to learn more about the difficulties farmers faced in connecting with consumers and how supply chain management could provide the necessary assistance to facilitate those connections and increase access to local sustainable products 3 Why did you select the NC State Jenkins MBA program For me the NC State Jenkins MBA program was a perfect fit Coming into the business school search with a specialized interest I knew I wanted a program that would give me the skills necessary to make a career change while allowing me the flexibility to create my own path towards a career in local sustainable food supply chains With the think and do attitude and the emphasis on gaining real world experience during the program I knew I could make the Jenkins MBA my own 4 Why did you select the supply chain management concentration how does it align with your career goals Supply chain management is a way in which I can provide assistance to the local sustainable food movement Using what I learn in the program and as a Supply Chain Scholar I hope to facilitate the connections between our local sustainable farmers and consumers here in North Carolina while working to make those connections efficient and environmentally sustainable Overall I hope to grow the local sustainable food economy while accomplishing my goal

    MBA program was actually the first one I considered Through the program s partnerships with the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative and Consumer Innovation Consortium students can obtain real world experience through hands on projects for industry partners and I found that to be very appealing As well I liked the offering of small class sizes the chance to work and learn from esteemed faculty who are experts in their fields and the overall campus culture at NC State 4 Why did you select the supply chain management concentration how does it align with career goals I selected the Supply Chain Management concentration because I find this discipline to be completely fascinating I had a broad understanding of the field but I wanted a more in depth knowledge about the end to end supply chain particularly with procurement and logistics since I had previous experience with manufacturing and inventory management already I really love process optimization creating tools to handle data more efficiently so effective business decisions can be made and utilizing technology to organize the information within the supply chain so it can easily be shared with the right people 5 What did you gain from prior experience as an SCRC Scholar This is my first year as a SCRC Scholar but I feel that through my experience with the Supply Chain Practicum rigorous supply chain courses and my supply chain internship over the summer I am really prepared to successfully deliver value added results to the SCRC s partner companies 6 What would you say to a prospective MBA student or an MBA student considering involvement with the SCRC The SCRC is a really fantastic way to not only develop your problem solving skills and work in multi disciplinary teams but it is also a wonderful opportunity to get
