    required Please complete the application form with the ND Department of Public Instruction return to top North Dakota Indian Scholarships Amount Students can earn up to 2 000 in scholarship funding per year Recipients must maintain GPAs of 2 0 or higher Who is eligible Applicants must be North Dakota residents and enrolled members of federally recognized Indian tribe They must be accepted for admission by a North Dakota institution of higher learning or state vocational education program and be enrolled as full time students Scholarships are based on unmet need as well as merit Students with a cumulative GPA of 2 0 3 499 must show unmet need to qualify Students with a cumulative GPA of 3 50 or high can qualify based on merit How to apply Download the 2015 16 application form or request an application from North Dakota University System 701 224 2648 return to top North Dakota Scholars Program This program provides merit based full tuition scholarships to qualifying North Dakota high school graduates who choose to earn undergraduate degrees in North Dakota Amount The amount of the scholarship is equal to the tuition rate charged at the scholar s institution not to exceed the highest regular resident undergraduate tuition rate in the North Dakota University System Scholars may receive the award for nor more than eight semesters or twelve quarters of full time undergraduate study or until the attainment of a baccalaureate degree whichever occurs first Stipends may be awarded in an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars annually Scholarships and stipends if awarded will be sent directly to the institution the student is attending Who is eligible for consideration High school students who score at or above the ninety fifth percentile among those who took the ACT prior to July 1st in the calendar year preceding the individual s enrollment in college will be considered for the award Students will be awarded in descending rank order until available funds are expended or until the pool of applicants has been exhausted Additional eligibility information is available in NDUS Procedure 500 2 How to apply Take the ACT Assessment prior to July 1 in the calendar year preceding the student s full time enrollment in college No separate application is required return to top North Dakota State Student Incentive Grant Program Also known as the State Grant Program this program provides non repayable grants to North Dakota residents who are first time undergraduate students and who attend qualifying North Dakota public private or tribal colleges Amount North Dakota State Grants award up to 975 per semester or 650 per quarter based on enrollment status Students may reapply each year by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid Eligibility is limited to eight semesters or twelve quarters of full time equivalent undergraduate enrollment or the attainment of a baccalaureate degree whichever comes first Who is eligible North Dakota resident applicants must have graduated from a high school in this state What you need to

    for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state SARA is overseen by a National Council and administered by four regional education compacts How can my institution join SARA Any degree granting institution based in the United States holding proper authorization from Congress a U S state or a federally recognized Indian tribe and holding accreditation from an accrediting association recognized by the U S Secretary of Education is eligible to apply to its home state to participate in SARA if that state is a SARA member For more information click here Complaints to the North Dakota University System NDUS office regarding North Dakota degree granting post secondary institutions authorized or exempted in NDCC and those participating in the National State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement SARA The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has delegated to NDUS college and university officials authority and responsibility to resolve student and other complaints Absent applicable law or policy establishing another remedy the first step in resolving student or other complaints or grievances is to attempt to resolve the matter directly with the administration of the involved institution under established institution complaint or grievance procedures Every North Dakota institution private for profit and public is required to establish publish and enforce policies related to redress of complaints and grievances With limited exceptions a student or other person who contacts the NDUS office regarding complaints regarding exempted or authorized North Dakota institutions or those participating in the SARA will be referred to college or university officials responsible for resolving those matters In the event that institutional processes do not result in a successful resolution of a complaint NDUS is responsible for final resolution

    for a vacancy on the North Dakota Board of Higher Education state Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler said Friday The board s president Kirsten Diederich resigned Jan 14 2015 Her successor will be asked to serve out the remainder of Diederich s term which was scheduled to end June 30 2018 The nominating committee will meet at 4 00 p m on Feb 4 2015 in the Office of the Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court to forward three nominations for the vacant position to the governor The governor s appointment must be confirmed by the North Dakota Senate this year for the person to be eligible to serve The Board of Higher Education oversees North Dakota s 11 public colleges and universities It has eight voting members Baesler is chairwoman of the nominating committee Its other members are Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle state Rep Wes Belter R Fargo the speaker of the North Dakota House state Sen Dick Dever R Bismarck the president pro tempore of the North Dakota Senate and Nick Archuleta president of North Dakota United which represents public school teachers and public employees The form to apply for the Board of Higher Education
