  • Cyber Security Awareness Week :: Parents
of Engineering during Cyber Security Awareness Week CSAW State and Regional winners receive a letter or plaque respec tively of recognition from NYU Winning finalists receive scholarships of up to 56 000 HSF is more than just a competition it s a start Competitors who go to the finals get to meet other students like themselves who are a couple steps ahead on their way into the field They can listen to keynote talks by industry experts They can connect with recruiters from organizations like Facebook Yelp and the Department of Homeland Security and explore internship opportunities They may even be awarded a significant fund toward their education ultimately toward their career This year for example the students running the competition are both former HSF winners who are now studying Computer Science and Cyber Security at NYU School of Engineering They re pursuing a track that started when they decided to compete in HSF for the first time Competitors don t have to be cyber security experts to participate If your son or daughter likes programming and is curious about computer security they re probably a good fit for this competition We encourage those interested in competing to check out a free online learning environment this summer called CyFor cyfor isis poly edu where they can ask questions collaborate and practice digital forensics skills from anywhere in the country The reason HSF exists is to improve the pipeline into cyber security by bringing talented young minds into the field While your child may not be actively exploring their career options at the moment HSF opens doors for their future It s also a lot of fun We hope you ll encourage them to get involved Sincerely Nasir Memon Symposium Founder CSAW Founder Department Head of Computer Science and Engineering NYU
