    University OSU and other experts give presentations that give participants a strong foundation in the topic while also providing and informing teachers about resources that are available at OSU and in Ohio for teachers to use in the classroom Workshop size is usually limited to 5 teachers to allow for one on one discussion Developing curriculum tools and resources is the focus of the workshop not on making proscribed lesson plans for teachers CSEES provides participants with a contact hour certificate and stipends are available to teachers as well 2015 Midwest Slavic K 12 Teacher Training Workshop Security in the Black Sea Region Georgia Turkey and Ukraine Saturday March 14 10 00AM 2 30PM Mendenhall Lab 175 The 2015 Midwest Slavic K 12 Teacher Training Workshop will focus on security in the Black Sea region focusing on three countries Georgia Turkey and Ukraine It is open to all in service and pre service teachers The four and a half hour workshop will feature three one hour segments by experts that will give an overview of each country s history culture and politics and a discussion of how these factors have impacted the country s current view of the world and relations with other countries In particular the workshop will seek to elucidate how these countries view themselves in relation to the European Union the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Russia the United States and other neighboring countries and influential actors The final hour of the workshop will provide time for participants to ask questions and speak with the workshop presenters as well as time to consider how information from the workshop might be integrated into the classroom and align with curriculum standards All participants will receive a 100 stipend for successful completion of the workshop and a contact hour certificate Lunch

    seeding of courses participation at East European and Eurasian conferences or the purchase of classroom materials related to Eastern Europe and Eurasia Please contact the assistant director of CSEES Eileen Kunkler at kunkler 10 osu edu to inquire about funding opportunities Faculty at community colleges and minority serving instituions are eligible to submit an application for a curriculum development stipend througha collaborative program with six National Resource Centers from across the country Full details and the application can be found under Curriculum Development Stipends Film and Lecture Series Working with Ohio State University faculty graduate students and CSEES outreach coordinator CSEES can assist in developing and organizing lectures and film series at campuses of other higher education institutions Each year CSEES collects available lecture topics from its associated faculty and graduate students and can work with an institution if a particular topic or theme is wanted With its wide collection of East European and Eurasian films CSEES can loan films to schools and offer lectures or presentations to facilitate a discussion of the film as well If interested in establishing a film or lecture series pleace contact the assistant director of CSEES Eileen Kunkler at kunkler 10 osu edu Career
