    part of their law degrees Authorized by the New York State Department of Education and offered to both practicing attorneys and current students this certificate signifies proficiency in the fundamentals of environmental law and provides a basic grounding for practice in the field With more than 40 elective courses our Environmental Law Program offers students one of the widest selections of environmental courses of any law school Our program has repeatedly achieved national acclaim for its environmental clinic externships and centers in which our students may participate for credit towards the Certificate in Environmental Law Students pursuing the Certificate may engage in these environmental law clinical and externship programs They also benefit from the campus presence of candidates many from other countries for the Master of Laws LLM degree in Environmental Law and the Doctor of Juridical Science SJD degree in Environmental Law who enrich the classroom with their experience and diverse perspectives JD students are graded separately from LLM and SJD students so there is no competition between degree seekers Requirements See Academic Rules and Regulations 8 B 1 for more information For students entering Pace prior to August 2015 All candidates must complete at least 12 environmental course credits including the required courses Environmental Law Skills Practice and Environmental Survey with an average GPA of 3 00 B or better and no grade below a C in those courses Certificate candidates must also maintain an overall grade point average GPA of 2 5 or better The five remaining required course credits may be selected from the numerous environmental law electives and for credit experiential learning opportunities listed here For students entering Pace August 2015 or later All candidates must complete at least 16 environmental course credits with an average GPA of 3 00 B or better and no

    Web Mail Pace University Search form Search Storm King You are here Home Academics Juris Doctor Program Environmental Law Program The Jeffrey G Miller Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition Sponsors Donor Information Official Rules Problem Fact Sheet Important Dates 2016 Team Briefs Schedule of Events Judging CLE Information Oral Argument Procedures Oral Argument Judging Criteria Judge Evaluation Criteria Team Coach Information Hotel Information Transportation Directions 2015 Competition Previous Competitions 2016 Competition February 18 20 2016 Each February law students from around the country assemble at Pace Law School to compete in The Jeffrey G Miller Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition NELMCC Conceived by Pace Law students the competition began in 1989 as a modest endeavor with 22 schools participating It is the largest interschool moot court competition of any kind under one roof regularly attracting in excess of 200 competitors from diverse law schools and 175 attorneys who serve as judges for the three days of oral arguments The competition provides a rigorous academic experience for the participants testing skills in appellate brief writing and oral advocacy involving issues drawn from real cases and providing first hand experience in environmental litigation Competitors research and analyze current and challenging legal environmental issues write persuasive arguments advocating how the issues should be resolved argue the issues orally and have their performances evaluated and critiqued by practicing attorneys Teams write a brief for one of the three respective parties legal positions and file their brief in late November early December Each brief is then graded for content legal analysis and writing style correct Bluebook legal citation and formatting The teams and coaches come to the Pace campus in February for the oral phase of the competition where each team must argue all three sides taking a different side during

    Juris Doctor Program Environmental Law Program Maryland Pace Environmental Law Alliance Maryland and Pace Form Environmental Law Alliance Environmental law programs look to create new model of specialized legal education White Plains NY March 2 2015 Pace Law School and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law are proud to announce the creation of a new partnership between their nationally ranked environmental law programs Dean David Yassky of Pace and Dean Donald Tobin of Maryland signed the memorandum of understanding that commences the Maryland Pace Environmental Law Alliance This first of its kind collaboration between environmental law programs will draw on each program s strengths in the field to train the next generation of environmental lawyers in a new era of legal education and environmental challenges In its first phase the Alliance will allow Pace and Maryland to share environmental externship and experiential learning opportunities engage in faculty and student exchanges and training programs collaborate on global environmental law projects and hold joint conferences workshops and symposia The schools will begin offering the semester long student exchange program in the fall 2015 semester Beyond this initial stage the Alliance will look to create joint curricular and degree opportunities teamwork between environmental law centers and clinics and joint research projects and publications among other initiatives This is an exciting opportunity for students and faculty at Maryland and Pace says Professor Jason Czarnezki Pace s Gilbert and Sarah Kerlin Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law and Executive Director of Environmental Law Programs The Alliance brings together two top innovators in environmental legal education in a collaboration that spans the Mid Atlantic Watershed Professor Robert Percival Maryland s Robert F Stanton Professor of Law and Environmental Law Program Director remarked This will give students at both schools greater access to environmental
