    Nassau County NY where as a senior trial attorney he investigated and tried numerous cases ranging from homicide to organized crime burglary to narcotics rape to armed robbery He also served as the trial supervisor responsible for instructing and supervising 46 assistant district attorneys in trial practice and procedure Judge Mannion was an Assistant United States Attorney and Chief of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force OCDETF in the Middle District of Pennsylvania from 1986 1993 and 1997 2001 During that time he tried many noteworthy and high profile cases including Examscam He also served as the District s Security Manager possessing a top secret United States Government security clearance He was and still is a regular speaker instructor and judge at the U S Department of Justice s National Advocacy Center NAC in Columbia SC Judge Mannion was also a member of the U S Department of Justice s Evaluation and Review Staff EARS charged with critically evaluating the performance and procedures used in the 94 United States Attorney s offices across the country Judge Mannion was a partner in the regional civil litigation firm of Hourigan Kluger Spohrer Quinn PC from 1993 1997 In that time he handled and tried numerous civil matters in both federal and state courts with a focus on medical malpractice negligence and commercial litigation In 2001 Judge Mannion was appointed to the federal bench for an 8 year term as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Pennsylvania He was reappointed to a second 8 year term in 2009 In 2011 he became the Chief United States Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Pennsylvania In 2012 Judge Mannion was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as a United States District Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania

    School Web Mail Pace University Search form Search You are here Home Events Commencement Honorary Degree Recipients Jonathan Lippman Chief Judge of the State of New York and Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals Jonathan Lippman Chief Judge of the State of New York and Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals was appointed by Governor Paterson in January 2009 and confirmed by the New York State Senate in February 2009 In May 2007 Governor Spitzer appointed him to serve as the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court First Department In that capacity he served on the Administrative Board of the Courts the policy and rule making body of the New York State Court System From January 1996 to May 2007 he served by appointment of Chief Judge Kaye as the Chief Administrative Judge of all New York State Courts and is the longest tenured person to have served in that capacity In 2005 he was elected as a Justice of the Supreme Court for the Ninth Judicial District Chief Judge Lippman also served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Term Ninth and Tenth Judicial Districts from January 2006 to May 2007 Chief Judge Lippman s career in the court system spans four decades starting as an entry level court attorney and including service as a law clerk in Supreme Court and Surrogate s Court and as Principal Court Attorney for Supreme Court New York County Civil Term He was named Chief Clerk and Executive Officer of that court in 1983 Chief Judge Lippman was appointed Deputy Chief Administrator for Management of the statewide court system in 1989 In 1995 he was appointed by Governor Pataki as a Judge of the New York Court of Claims and was subsequently reappointed to a full nine

    Affairs Correspondent Legal Affairs Correspondent Washington Desk National Public Radio NPR Credit NPR Steve Barrett Nina Totenberg is NPR s award winning legal affairs correspondent Her reports air regularly on NPR s critically acclaimed newsmagazines All Things Considered Morning Edition and Weekend Edition Totenberg s coverage of the Supreme Court and legal affairs has won her widespread recognition Newsweek says The mainstays of NPR are Morning Edition and All Things Considered But the creme de la creme is Nina Totenberg She is also a regular panelist on Inside Washington a weekly syndicated public affairs television program produced in the nation s capital In 1991 her ground breaking report about University of Oklahoma Law Professor Anita Hill s allegations of sexual harassment by Judge Clarence Thomas led the Senate Judiciary Committee to re open Thomas s Supreme Court confirmation hearings to consider Hill s charges NPR received the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for its gavel to gavel coverage anchored by Totenberg of both the original hearings and the inquiry into Anita Hill s allegations and for Totenberg s reports and exclusive interview with Hill That same coverage earned Totenberg additional awards among them the Long Island University George Polk Award for excellence in journalism the Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for investigative reporting the Carr Van Anda Award from the Scripps School of Journalism and the prestigious Joan S Barone Award for excellence in Washington based national affairs public policy reporting which also acknowledged her coverage of Justice Thurgood Marshall s retirement Totenberg was named Broadcaster of the Year and honored with the 1998 Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcasting from the National Press Foundation She is the first radio journalist to receive the award She is also the recipient of the American Judicature

    States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces CAAF Margaret A Meg Ryan was born in Chicago Illinois She received her bachelor of arts cum laude from Knox College in 1985 and her Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1995 Ryan attended law school under the Marine Corps Law Education Program at the University of Notre Dame where she was a member of the Notre Dame Law Review received the William T Kirby Legal Writing Award and was the recipient of the Colonel William J Hoynes Award for Outstanding Scholarship for graduating first in the class Ryan served on active duty for the United States Marine Corps from 1987 to 1999 She served in units within the second and third Marine Expeditionary Forces as a staff officer company commander platoon commander and operations officer Her tours included deployments to the Philippines during a coup attempt and to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and Desert Storm She then served as a judge advocate general JAG and as a trial counsel and chief trial counsel in Okinawa Japan and Quantico Virginia Ryan was then selected by General Charles C Krulak commandant of the Marine Corps to serve as his aide de camp For her service Ryan was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal After her service in the Marines she was admitted to practice law in Virginia Colorado and the District of Columbia and before the Supreme Court of the United States the U S Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit the U S District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia the U S District Court for the District of Colorado the U S Court of Federal Claims and the
