  • Prof. Vorsa Named Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors | Office of Research and Economic Development
    cranberries led to the honor Nicholi Vorsa research professor and developer of high yielding cranberry varieties with enhanced fruit chemistry attributes has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors A resident of Atco New Jersey Vorsa is director of Rutgers Marucci Blueberry and Cranberry Research and Extension Center The academy founded four years ago announced its 2014 fellows today Dec 16 Included among all of the NAI Fellows are 61 presidents and senior leaders of research universities and non profit research institutes as well as 21 Nobel Laureates Because his work has helped New Jersey s cranberry growers for years in a profound way Professor Vorsa has made valuable contributions to a vital part of our state s economy said Christopher J Molloy senior vice president for research and economic development at Rutgers We are pleased that he is receiving such prestigious national recognition for his accomplishments as an inventor Vorsa holds six U S and international patents and two Canadian patents He received the Inventor of the Year award in 2013 from the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame and the Thomas Alva Edison Award from the R D Council of New Jersey in 2008 A major emphasis of Vorsa s research program is directed toward the genetic improvement of cranberries and blueberries Populations of wild vaccinium species including cranberries and blueberries have been collected and analyzed and are being maintained in Vorsa s lab He earned a bachelor s degree from Rutgers in 1976 an M S from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1978 and a doctorate from Rutgers in 1985 About Rutgers Established in 1766 Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is America s eighth oldest institution of higher learning and one of the nation s premier public research universities educating more

    its inception in 1989 Corporate Contracts has grown in response to an overall upward growth trend of industrial sponsored research and funding at Rutgers which is attributable to Rutgers gifted research faculty and their expertise With the integration of UMDNJ into Rutgers Corporate Contracts continues to play a vital role in such valuable industry Rutgers partnerships through its dedication to Rutgers faculty and staff its knowledge of State and Federal government regulations and contract law Rutgers policy governing internal business matters as they relate to its educational charter and its sensitivity towards and understanding of the cultural disparity between industry and academia Corporate Contracts is responsible for the following types of agreements funded and collaborative research including subcontract agreements small business SBIR and STTR agreements laboratory field services for a fee agreements material transfer of biological and other scientific material agreements business associate HIPAA related agreements data use agreements limited data set or no PHI confidentiality disclosure and nondisclosure agreements exchange of proprietary or otherwise information for all of Rutgers regardless of the contracting party s private industry or non profit status student sponsorships agreements fellowships and company programs master research master service agreements other unique agreements A Rutgers agreement type and supporting office guide may be found here Please click the following link for information on RBHS Legacy UMDNJ corporate contracts and government non profit clinical contract support Rutgers Export Control Officer works closely with the Office of Corporate Contracts and is readily available to guide and train faculty and staff in matters relating to export control When submitting a contract request to the Office of Corporate Contracts please include the following documentation Budget Include IRB and or IACUC fees as required Statement of work Signed Endorsement Form IRB IACUC REHS hESCRO approval Email confirmation of FOCI submission see
