diversity and various conversational methods help international students become fluent in English in this program Students in IEC classes represent more than 20 countries Working here is like being surrounded by the United Nations It s very exciting and motivating Snell adds To create a greater learning environment students practice their English in several ways For one there are conversation classes where a teacher and a facilitator help guide the students to create impromptu conversations with one another to enhance fluency In addition there s a pronunciation clinic before and after class that students can attend as well as computer labs where students can watch English movies Furthermore there are evening conversation groups This gives students a chance to talk with teachers and community members says Snell Moreover Snell has plans for the IEC program moving forward One of my big goals is to help teachers develop a larger use of educational technology in the classroom I also want to capitalize on our relationship with the university and help integrate our students into the campus in a greater way he says Tags American Language Institute IEC robert snell SDSU Comments Closed Comments are closed You will not be able to post a comment in this post ALI Program Blogs Semester SDSU Posts English for Academic Purposes Posts Intensive English for Communication Posts Business English for Global Practices Posts Social Entrepreneurship Posts Student Profiles ALI Student Profile Sofia Rodriguez 11 February 2015 11 54 PM No Comments Read More ALI Student Profile Tomomi Aoki 30 October 2014 4 38 PM No Comments Read More ALI Student Profile Valeria Garcia Alvarez 21 July 2014 3 42 PM No Comments Read More ALI Student Finds Multinational Success Yutaka Matsuda 28 January 2014 7 28 PM No Comments Read More Student Spotlight Zabella Demirtshyan

learning The advice that Knowles offers students coming to the ALI and San Diego is that they should get out of their comfort zone and experience all that they can He counsels them to See other parts of San Diego and California that other people are not seeing and to spend as much time with native English speakers and people outside of your own culture Also do a lot of reading ask questions and take notes This way students can get a well rounded perspective of San Diego as well as gain an insightful experience and education As an instructor Knowles enjoys learning as much from his students as they like learning from him I learned that students appreciate your teaching more than they let on at times he said So I ve been pleasantly surprised by students who have at the end of the session come up and say how much they ve learned and how much they have appreciated the effort that I have put in Knowles adds one comment regarding his fellow instructors We have top notch teachers and professionals here he points out I ve been impressed with the professionalism from top to bottom at the ALI All the teachers are dedicated and have excellent credentials Tags American Language Institute EAP Larry Knowles SDSU Comments Closed Comments are closed You will not be able to post a comment in this post ALI Program Blogs Semester SDSU Posts English for Academic Purposes Posts Intensive English for Communication Posts Business English for Global Practices Posts Social Entrepreneurship Posts Student Profiles ALI Student Profile Sofia Rodriguez 11 February 2015 11 54 PM No Comments Read More ALI Student Profile Tomomi Aoki 30 October 2014 4 38 PM No Comments Read More ALI Student Profile Valeria Garcia Alvarez 21 July
