  • Student Sound-off – Maura Di Meo
There is also another student who lives with us she is Korean and so I m really getting an international experience Who do you hang out with I hang out with other students in my classes They are mostly German but I also hang out with American students of course there are so many on campus you can t help but run into them socially What are your future plans For me my future is all about independence I want to be independent from my parents so most likely I will study abroad again but eventually I want to work in marketing and public relations at a multinational company a company like L Oreal What do you think of American culture I love America There is a high quality of life in California it s more relaxed It s also sunny and that makes me happy There are plenty of opportunities here The classes in America tend to be competitive which is a good aspect because it makes you study and become a better student What do you do on your time when you are not in class Travel Travel Travel I ve been to San Francisco New York City Boston Las Vegas Santa Barbara and Los Angeles I travel to meet other people I also like to shop and go out for dinner The shopping is good because it s much cheaper than Italy Tags American Language Institute maura di meo Pre MBA Comments Closed Comments are closed You will not be able to post a comment in this post ALI Program Blogs Semester SDSU Posts English for Academic Purposes Posts Intensive English for Communication Posts Business English for Global Practices Posts Social Entrepreneurship Posts Student Profiles ALI Student Profile Sofia Rodriguez 11 February 2015 11 54 PM No

  • ALI Instructor – Patric Bodin – Pre-MBA
students into graduate business school and students need to take the admissions test which is the GMAT In Pre MBA classes we do a lot of test prep We just don t teach the test we give students strategies to get good test scores and we hit students underlying skills We put the key skills that will be needed in a graduate business program to use Who should enroll in the Pre MBA program Students who are interested in academic preparation should enroll Also students who want to get their feet wet in academic American culture and more specifically American business academic culture should enroll How does the diversity of the students affect the classes I think a graduate business program in the U S is not valuable unless it has an international presence because business is global Students should learn to work with people from other countries In this program they work in groups with other students from different backgrounds They learn how to negotiate with them and how to understand them at different levels Is there one goal that you want students to achieve in the Pre MBA program For me it s important that our students enter an American graduate business program on an even playing field We teach them how to successfully navigate our system So is there anything else that I didn t ask that you would like to talk about I do want to add one thing We talked about test prep and teaching students skills that they don t know they have some of those skills are research group work and presentations Those types of skills they will need They will especially need research skills Many American students don t have strong research skills so we focus on skills that allow our students
