    Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act Sections 66028 66028 6 of the Education Code Back to top Nonresident Tuition Fees In addition to the tuition fees in the applicable charts above out of state and international students must pay non resident tuition fees of 372 per unit or fractional unit For information on Fall 2015 fees for Non Resident and International students please visit the Bursar s Office website at Certain nonresident students who have attended high school in California for a minimum of three years and have graduated from a California high school or attained the equivalent High School Equivalency Certificate issued by the California Department of Education may be exempt from tuition fees For more information on residency requirements see the Residency web page or visit the One Stop Student Services Center in the Student Services Building Back to top Frequently asked Questions About Establishing Residency For complete information about establishing residency please visit our residency page at www sfsu edu future apply residency html Back to top Frequently Asked Questions about Exemptions from Nonresident Tuition Fees What is AB 540 On October 11 2001 Governor Gray Davis signed Assembly Bill 540 now Education Code Section 68130 5 creating a new exemption from nonresident tuition fees for any student who meets ALL of the following criteria attended high school in California for 3 or more years graduated from a California high school or attained the equivalent is registered at or is attending an accredited institution of higher education in California not earlier than Fall 2001 and be a U S Citizen or have lawful immigration status or a student without lawful immigration status filing an affidavit with the campus stating that he or she has applied to legalize immigration status or will do so as soon as he or she is eligible When did the law take effect January 2 2002 What are the procedures for requesting the exemption from nonresident tuition fees Download the AB 540 Affidavit Instructions for how to fill out the Affadavit can be found here How do students request a refund if they have already paid nonresident tuition fees and then become eligible for an exemption Students may complete and submit the refund request form or go to the Bursar s Office either at the One Stop Student Services Center in the Student Services building or in the Administration building The refund will be processed and mailed to the student s home address approximately three weeks from the date of application Do students need to file a new affidavit each semester they enroll No Students providing an affidavit are not required to submit a new affidavit for any future term of continuous enrollment after the original affidavit is submitted A break in continuous enrollment will require completion of a new affidavit Are U S citizens who are current residents of other states but meet all the criteria eligible Yes Does the exemption apply to students holding valid non immigrant temporary visas such as

  • Retirement Association at San Francisco State University
    Francisco or the northern Peninsula like Val s or the Basque Cultural Center one will be a November holiday lunch another is usually a St Patrick s Day lunch These are opportunities to get together with friends and colleagues from SFSU to talk about what we re doing now and what s going on at the campus and to reminisce about the good old days Sometimes we ll have entertainment or a presentation talk We also have outings to interesting local places For example events included guided walks through the Mission District and the Filoli estate in the spring when the gardens were in full bloom and a guided backstage tour of the San Francisco Opera House a hard hat tour of the new J Paul Leonard Library before it opened Lamp Lighters Music Theater presentation of two Gilbert Sullivan productions and a Beach Blanket Babylon performance Our Mare Island tour was so popular we had two of them It featured a guided bus tour of historic sites in the Naval Shipyard including a chapel with Tiffany stained glass windows a waterfront lunch and a tour of a World War II Mighty Midget gunboat that Bill Mason has spent years helping acquire and refurbish Other more recent events have included docent led tours of the Romberg Tiburon Center 49ers stadium and WW II Rosie the Riveter Historic Park We distribute a periodic newsletter the Off Campus Bulletin to keep members informed about Association activities member activities e g books published and campus happenings We have a representative on the Board of ERFA the Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association for the California State University CSU system who reports news about the State budget California Public Employees Retirement system CalPERS long term care and other items of interest to retirees from the
