    assessed a non refunable 20 administrative fee which must be paid with cash check or certified funds The non refundable 20 administrative fee cannot be paid by a financial aid disbursement The financial aid fee deferment must be issued before the student will be able to register for classes during their schedule Final Priority Registration period If the financial aid fee deferment is issued after the Final Priority Registration period August 10 2013 then the student is assessed a non refundable 20 administrative fee and a 25 late registration fee which must be paid with cash check or certified funds The non refundable 20 administrative fee and the 25 late registration fee cannot be paid by a financial aid disbursement If the student is found to be ineligible for financial aid after they have enrolled in classes or if the financial aid is not sufficient to pay tuition and fees in full the student is responsible for paying the fees or unpaid balance before the first day of the semester August 26 2013 Payments received on or after the first day of the semester August 26 2013 will be assessed a non refundable administrative fee of 20 After the Add Deadline Date Census date September 23 2013 students with a financial aid fee deferment that has not disbursed or have had their financial aid cancelled and have an outstanding tuition and fee balance will be assessed a non refundable 20 administrative fee The non refundable 20 administrative fee is assessed only once per semester for late payment Incoming 1st semester students admitted before registration period must have their financial aid fee deferment in place by their scheduled orientation date to enroll in classes at their orientation session If the incoming 1st semester students does not attend an orientation session then their financial aid fee deferment must be issued before the student will be able to register for classes during their schedule Priority Registration period If the financial aid fee deferment is issued on or after the first day of the semester August 26 2013 then the student is assessed a non refundable 20 administrative fee and a 25 late registration fee which must be paid with cash check or certified funds The non refundable 20 administrative fee and the 25 late registration fee cannot be paid by a financial aid disbursement If the student is found to be ineligible for financial aid after they have enrolled in classes or if the financial aid is not sufficient to pay tuition and fees in full the student is responsible for paying the fees or unpaid balance before the first day of the semester August 26 2013 Payments received on or after the first day of the semester August 26 2013 will be assessed a non refundable administrative fee of 20 After the Add Deadline Date Census date September 23 2013 students with a financial aid fee deferment that has not disbursed or have had their financial aid cancelled and have an outstanding

    Hours Phone Hours Mon Fri 9 00am 4 30pm Email finaid sfsu edu Phone 415 338 7000 TDD 415 338 4321 Fax 415 338 0949 Last Update 02 06 2015 2015 2016 FAFSA IRS DATA RETRIEVAL TOOL The U S Department of Education created an enhancement to the FAFSA filing process by allowing applicants and parents to retrieve tax data from the Internal Revenue Service IRS This process called the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is easiest way to provide accurate income tax information on the FAFSA www fafsa ed gov IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE 2015 2016 FAFSA PROCESS ALL applicants and parents who indicate they have filed a federal tax return will be directed to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool Applicants and parents who indicate they will file a federal tax return will receive email communication s from the federal processor directing them to use the IRS Tool to update their income information once they have filed their 2014 federal income tax return Applicants selected for the verification process will be required to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool or they may choose to request a tax transcript from the IRS which can later be submitted to the Financial Aid Office HOW SOON AFTER FILING A 2014 FEDERAL TAX RETURN CAN I USE THE IRS TOOL For electronic tax filers IRS Data will be available to fill in the FAFSA within 2 weeks of filing For paper tax filers IRS Data will be available to fill in the FAFSA within 6 8 weeks of filing If you plan to submit your FAFSA before you and or your parents complete and submit your 2014 Federal Tax Return be sure to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to update your FAFSA record once the returns have been submitted and the income
