    News Releases Sheridan in the News Events Prospective Students Current Students International Students Continuing Education Students Parents Alumni Donors Employers Home Alumni Alumni News Sheridan Film Screening Showcases Alumni Talent Alumni News Sheridan Film Screening Showcases Alumni Talent March 14 2013 Audience members emerged from Sheridan s recent alumni film festival inspired and energized by the talent and passion of our graduates in the film and television industry Over 100 people gathered at Sheridan s Trafalgar Campus on March 7 to view two Canadian Screen Award nominated productions and join a discussion with the main players behind the projects Opening the evening was a screening of FROST co produced by Bob Munroe Computer Graphics 1985 An independent producer director and visual effects supervisor Bob tapped into his vast network of first rate industry connections to help bring this compelling film to the screen under a very tight budget and schedule Key players in FROST s production were on hand to explain the story behind the film s stunning visual effects Joining Bob on stage were Co producer Lauren Grant Director Jeremy Ball plus VFX Supervisor Bret Culp and VFX Producer Tony Matthews both of Arc Productions Created in partnership with the CFC Canadian Film Centre FROST tells the story of a young arctic hunter who longs for her father s recognition as a capable disciple The film has played to festival audiences across Canada as well as Spain FROST was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Live Action Short Drama A three time Gemini Award winner for visual effects Bob has an extensive list of credits including The Tudors Dolphin Tale The Borgias and The Wild He is the Immediate Past Chair and a current member of the Board of the CFC as well as the recipient of a 2006 Ontario Premier s Award honouring college graduates The creative force of Sheridan arts graduates was in full evidence during the second half of the festival which featured Descending Host and co creator of the 13 part documentary series Scott Wilson Media Arts 2005 introduced a specially cut overview of Descending which explores the submerged treasures of our planet The series is the second documentary style production from Hamilton based Echo Bay Media co founded by Scott and former Sheridan classmate Andre Dupuis Director of Photography The duo s first series Departures is an action packed travelogue which won three Gemini Awards during its three seasons Also hosted by Scott and filmed by Andre Departures gained a loyal following in Canada and throughout the world Both series were broadcast by Ontario s Outdoor Life Network Sheridan s connection to the popular adventure series is not limited to Scott and Andre The Descending crew including the sound design team from Toronto s Sound Dogs Studios are Sheridan Media Arts alumni Steven Balogh Camera Operator Alvin Campana Editor Stephen Barden Sound Designer Tyler Whitham Sound Editor and Ryan Ongaro Post Audio Assist They were joined at the screening by series Producers
