    Events Partnering with Sheridan Success Stories About Us Active Research Resources SOURCE Sheridan s Institutional Repository Working at Sheridan About Human Resources Careers at Sheridan Faculty and Staff Directory Human Resources Employment Information Occupational Health and Safety Athletics Campus Recreation Contact Us Better Bruin Fitness News Events News Releases Sheridan in the News Events Prospective Students Current Students International Students Continuing Education Students Parents Alumni Donors Employers Home Life at Sheridan Campus Services Residence Residence Life Residence Staff Volunteers Residence Staff Volunteers Apply to Residence Tour Residence Residence Staff Volunteers Residence Services Representative RSR Our Front Desk is open 24 hours a day 7 days per week The RSR is always available to help you with any questions you may have about the residence and the surrounding area You will need to see them to sign out vacuums keys for various controlled rooms or facilities and to sign in guests One of the main responsibilities of the RSR is to ensure all policies are being adhered to in order to ensure the safety and security of residents and guests Housekeeping Our housekeeping staff are here Monday through Friday and complete a light clean of all student suites bi weekly We ask that all students clear their kitchen and bathroom counters floors and tables before their cleaning Please see the housekeeping schedules to determine which day of the week your suite is scheduled for its bi weekly cleaning Housekeeping is a mandatory service and ensures your common areas retain healthy and sanitary conditions reduce the chance of damages to the suite help ensure the maintenance in these areas is kept up and to maintain the functionality of the suite s life saving devices Maintenance Our maintenance staff are here Monday through Friday and complete general building maintenance along with in suite maintenance to correct any issues reported by residents Our maintenance staff are very willing to assist with anything in your suite or the building that may be in poor condition needs fixing or repair We encourage you to complete a maintenance requisition if you notice anything of this nature Please review our maintenance requisitions information for detailed instructions on how to place a maintenance request Resident Advisors RA The role of Resident Advisor is filled by experienced students whose primary focus is to create community through the coordination of social and educational programming Resident Advisors provide valuable support and guidance to residents while at the same time acting as a liaison with Residence Management The Resident Advisors complete nightly rounds of the building and are available through the Residence Life Office or the Front Desk Resident Advisors are a great resource They have the tools and knowledge to get you the answers direction and or assistance you need or can simply be someone to talk to The RAs are here to help they have been through it too and they want to be there for you Our RAs go through an extensive training program that is aimed at giving them

    Child Care Centre at the Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville provides high quality programming based on the High Scope Philosophy of education The High Scope Curriculum is based on the well documented research of recognized theorists Piaget and Erikson as well as ongoing research at the High Scope Foundation in Ypsilanti Michigan Children are seen as Active Learners who supported by their teachers develop new understanding through active exploration of materials ideas and events Our programs provide a total curriculum which allow for the optimal growth of children in all areas including social emotional physical and cognitive development The children are supported in a safe nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes self esteem and self confidence and provides ongoing opportunity for decision making and problem solving Each child and family is recognized as being unique Family styles values cultures and traditions are respected and reflected in the curriculum ENROLMENT Children at our Centre are divided into three age groupings each with their own separate classroom Toddler Room 10 children 2 qualified staff ages 18 months to 2 years 6 months Preschool Room 16 children 2 qualified staff ages 2 years 6 months to 3 years 8 months Kindergarten Room 20 children 2 qualified staff ages 3 years 8 months to 5 years PROGRAM The children s day is a blend of structured and unstructured activities including Outdoor Play satisfies the child s physical need for large muscle activity as well as encouraging exploration of the natural surroundings The Indoor Environment is designed to promote a variety of spontaneous and planned experiences which can be enjoyed individually or in large groups Routines for dressing washroom and lunch snack foster independence and self help skills Children are encouraged to do as much for themselves as possible Rest Time is a quiet relaxing time for children to re energize Children may take a favourite soft toy or blanket to bed with them Non sleepers are able to participate in quiet playroom activities after one hour of rest Field Trips are special outings that are an integral part of our programs and are chosen to enhance and expand on the classroom curriculum They may include walking in the surrounding areas or use of public and chartered bus services Nutrition is of primary importance At midday the children enjoy a hot well balanced meal prepared on the premises Mid morning and mid afternoon snacks are also served Inclusion fosters the recognition of similarities and the acceptance of differences in others by providing the opportunity for all children to participate in activities together Our programs enhance the growth and development of each child by exposure to a variety of learning experiences while socializing with other children Children with special needs their families and centre staff may be supported in this program by a specially trained resource consultant or other community professional For children that qualify and as available funding and arrangements for this special service are through the Region of Halton Children s Services at 905
