    a healthy lifestyle visit the SIUC Wellness Center Lawlifeline LawLifeline org is a resource for law students providing information about a wide range of emotional health issues including anxiety depression and stress It also offers an anonymous confidential web based resource center allowing students to search for information and learn how to go about seeking help if they need it LawLifeline content covers a wide range of emotional health topics relevant for law students in their daily lives In addition the site features a Self Evaluator a confidential mental health screening tool created in collaboration with Duke University to assess the issues for which a student may need to seek help LawLifeline is a project of The Jed Foundation the nation s leading organization working to promote emotional health and prevent suicide among college students and The Dave Nee Foundation which works to fight depression and prevent suicide among law students Disability Support Services Academic and programmatic support services are available for students with either permanent or temporary disabilities through Disability Support Service Admitted students with a disability who seek an accommodation from the School of Law should immediately contact DSS and inform the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs More information here Personal Safety Don t just be afraid do something about it Night Safety Transit is available for students to locations on campus and to and from your home if you live within the service area Rape Aggression Defense Systems training is also available and take note of Campus Crime Watch and other personal safety services on campus at the SIU Department of Public Safety website Family Services Child care services in the community for students with children and additional family support services at the SIUC Clinical Center including family couples therapy speech language hearing evaluations and therapy and

    About SIU Law Campus Community Exhibits Share this page Exhibits University Museum The University Museum has over 2 500 objects in its fine and decorative arts collections including significant work in sculpture and photography with an emphasis on 20th century works by regional national and international artists including work by SIUC art faculty and graduate students In addition to its art collection and exhibit of works outside its art collection the Museum also includes a science collection with over 26 000 geological specimens and a humanities collection with more than 22 000 artifacts including significant collections of WPA models of furniture housing and transportation constructed at the Museum during the Great Depression and a collection of Melanesian ceremonial masks textiles pottery weapons and tools Admission to the museum is free For more information including hours and exhibit schedules Surplus Gallery Vergette Gallery Both of these galleries are affiliated with the SIUC School of Arts Design The Surplus Gallery at the Glove Factory is located at 432 South Washington on the northwest corner of Washington and College in downtown Carbondale with 4 000 square feet of exhibition space The Vergette Gallery located on the first floor of the Allyn Building in

    Current Students Alumni Friends Employers News Events Breadcrumb Navigation Home About SIU Law News Events Beatty Jurist in Residence Share this page Beatty Jurist in Residence The William L Beatty Jurist In Residence allows students to supplement their traditional curriculum with the perspective and experience of the judiciary Each year a distinguished jurist is invited to spend two to three days at the School of Law speaking in a variety of classes related to his her area of responsibility and meeting with students faculty and staff in both formal and informal settings The Jurist In Residence is made possible through a cy pres award granted to the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2004 by U S District Court Judge for the Southern District of Illinois David R Herndon Class of 1977 in memory of his mentor William L Beatty William L Beatty 1925 2001 was born in Mendota Illinois Beatty served in the United States Army from 1943 1946 and graduated from law school in 1950 As an attorney he had a distinguished career in private practice from 1950 to 1968 when he was elected to the bench of the Third Circuit Court Madison County Illinois He held
