    Friends Employers Faculty Breadcrumb Navigation Home Our People Faculty Law Faculty George A Mocsary Share this page George A Mocsary Assistant Professor of Law Office Lesar Law Building Room 254 Phone 618 453 8745 e mail gmocsary siu edu Before joining the faculty of the Southern Illinois University School of Law as an Assistant Professor George A Mocsary spent two years as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law He entered academia after having practiced corporate and bankruptcy law at Cravath Swaine and Moore in New York Before that he clerked for the Honorable Harris L Hartz of the U S Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit Professor Mocsary holds a J D from Fordham Law School where he graduated first in his class and summa cum laude He also served as Notes and Articles Editor of the Fordham Law Review and was the recipient of the Benjamin Finkel Prize for Excellence in Bankruptcy and Fordham Law Alumni Association Medal in Constitutional Law Before going to law school Professor Mocsary earned his M B A from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business and ran a successful management consulting practice His consulting clients ranged from the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York to JPMorgan Chase to the private bank Pictet and Cie in Geneva Switzerland Professor Mocsary also holds a B E from the Cooper Union Albert Nerken School of Engineering Professor Mocsary is a co author of Firearms Law and the Second Amendment Regulation Rights and Policy Aspen Publishers 2012 the first casebook on its topic He has also published in the George Washington Law Review George Mason Law Review Fordham Law Review and other journals His work has been cited by the Supreme Court of the United

    spoke at Lewis and Clark Law School s conference on The Clean Air Act at 40 Professor McCubbin served as a Fulbright Scholar in China in spring 2007 teaching American environmental and administrative law to students at the Wuhan University School of Law in Wuhan China which is home to the Research Institute for Environmental Law one of the nation s premier institutions in this field There she worked with Chinese colleagues on issues related to the country s domestic efforts to address climate change culminating in China and Climate Change Domestic Environmental Needs Differentiated International Responsibilities and Rule of Law Weaknesses an article published as part of a symposium held at the University of Houston in February 2008 More recently she participated in a panel on energy and climate policy at Vermont Law School s conference on China s Environmental Governance Global Challenges and Comparative Solutions She organized the SIU Law Journal Symposium held February 27 2009 on Contemporary Issues at the Intersection of Public Health and Environmental Law That conference brought together some of the nation s leading legal scholars scientists government regulators community activists and private attorneys to discuss land use regulation as a tool to remedy the obesity epidemic climate change as a public health threat pharmaceuticals in waterways and other issues From 2009 to 2011 Professor McCubbin served as co chair of the Constitutional Law Committee within the American Bar Association s Section on Environment Energy and Resources She previously served as Vice Chair for Public Service for that committee In addition for nearly a decade she has been involved with the ABA s Annual Conference on Environmental Law moderating and speaking on several panels and serving as a member of the Planning Committee for one of the conferences Prior to joining the School of

    of Law and Director of Moot Court Programs Office Lesar Law Building Room 248 Phone 618 453 5634 e mail cheryla siu edu Professor Anderson permanently joined the SIU faculty as an Assistant Professor of Law in 1999 becoming an Associate Professor in 2003 and now holding the rank of Professor of Law She was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the law school in 1998 99 She started her teaching career in 1993 when she was selected as an Abraham Freedman Teaching Fellow at Temple University in Philadelphia Professor Anderson subsequently taught at Gonzaga University School of Law and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law before coming to SIU Professor Anderson was born and raised in North Dakota where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology summa cum laude and a Juris Doctorate with distinction from the University of North Dakota She also has a Master of Laws from Temple University She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Order of Coif and Order of the Barristers In law school she was a Senior Editor of the North Dakota Law Review After law school she practiced with a private firm for several years in Minnesota concentrating on employment discrimination general employment law insurance defense and family law At SIU Professor Anderson teaches employment discrimination and employment law courses including a course on disability discrimination law She is also the Director of Moot Court Programs and teaches an advanced appellate advocacy course Her scholarship focuses on issues of disability discrimination and sexual harassment law including recent articles on amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act and interpretation of the reasonable accommodation provisions of that same statute She has been active with the Illinois State Bar Association Disability Law Committee for which she was the 2012 13 Chair as well
