    if they meet certain criteria In order to be considered for EOP prospective students must apply to EOP when they apply to San José State University State residency is a requirement to receive the EOP Grant Other financial assistance may be available on a limited basis to undocumented students AB540 Eligibility Attend a California high school for three or more years Graduate from a California high school or receive the equivalent general education diploma G E D and be enrolled in a CCC CSU or UC Currently enrolled in a California CC CSU or a UC Students may not hold a valid non immigrant visa i e F J H L A E etc Dream Act AB130 AB131 The California Dream Act extends eligibility for certain types of California financial aid to students including undocumented students who qualify for a non resident tuition exemption under AB540 As an undocumented student you may be eligible for state aid as well as private scholarships Undocumented students are ineligible for federal aid including federal loans grants and work study DACA Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals On June 15 2012 the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that certain people who came to the US as children and meet several guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of two years subject to renewal They are also eligible for work authorization Deferred action is a use of prosecutorial discretion to defer removal action against an individual for a certain period of time Deferred action does not provide lawful status Note On November 20 2014 the President made an announcement extending the period of DACA and work authorization from two years to three years RESOURCES SJSU AB540 Help Desk California Non Resident Tuition Exemption Request AB540 Affidavit Form SJSU AB540 Resource Guide Student Advocates
