    very generous alumni of San José State University Alan and Phyllis Simpkins The Simpkins were actively involved in the development of the program and maintenance of the facility since its inception in 1978 when they bought the building remodeled and furnished it The building was privately owned by the Simpkins until December 1997 when they donated it to the SJSU Foundation for continued use as the SJSU Phyllis Forward Simpkins

    a well equipped student kitchen in the basement Also food is served all night during final exams That helps a lot during those stressful exams Apart from dining services the dining room is used for a variety of other activities like regional dinners coffee night orientations cross cultural simulations and much more Back to Top TV Room The TV Room is the place where residents generally hang out in the evening and at night We have a huge 64 inch TV with a cool home theatre system It is a pretty nice place to sit relax and talk to fellow residents while watching TV During big games like the Super Bowl everyone gathers in the TV room and has fun Back to Top Office You will often find yourself coming into the office to chat buy stamps make photocopies or fax a document This is the place where you check out keys for various facilities In addition we have five residents working part time in the office as office assistants to help with the daily operations of the house Back to Top Attractive Bedrooms Bedrooms are really cozy and comfortable yet spacious and with good air circulation Rooms are fully furnished with bed desk chair dresser and walk in closet You are free and encouraged to decorate them the way you want to It is residents responsibility to keep rooms clean and one can check out a vacuum cleaner from the office Generally rooms are shared between two residents Depending on the seniority and availability residents can also opt for single bedrooms Back to Top Study Room The study room is the most serious and super quiet place in I House You will see all fun loving and party people studying very seriously here This is open round the clock unlike school library study rooms It can accommodate a lot of people and also has drafting board facilities Back to Top Computer Lab Internet The computer lab is fully equipped with laser printer scanner and Internet Residents are free to use them anytime they want to I House provides Free 24x7 High Speed wireless internet to all the residents There are number of 802 11g 54 MBPS wireless routers installed all over the house If you do not have a wireless card you can also check out the wireless card from the I House office for temporary use Back to Top Recreation Party Room Equipped with pool table foosball air hockey mini basketball piano TV set with DVD player and X Box etc No weekend is a dull day at I House These rooms are residents favorite place for parties It is the place where you can hang out play pool foosball air hockey X Box games chess or watch movies on DVD I House parties are generally organized in this huge room which is in basement and situated such that they won t disturb you at all while you are in your bed room Back to Top Patio Barbecue

    one time 100 00 Room Care Deposit with their first payment At the commencement of the semester the next installment of 2 438 00 is due The final installment based on the meal plan chosen is due on October 1 for Fall semester March 1 for Spring semester Contact the Director to set up an individualized payment plan Financial Aid is accepted Nearly half of our residents work towards a reduction in rent see GIA Back to Top Payment Options Academic semester paymentsare made in three installments Payment plans can be arranged for payments to be made on a monthly basis We accept credit cards for most payments Once you are accepted to live at International House we will provide you a link so that your payments can be made online using your credit card All checks must be drawn on a U S correspondent bank in U S dollars and made payable to the SJSU Foundation Once in the United States payments may be made may be made by credit card by personal check or cashier s check from a local bank or by traveler s checks Back to Top Refund Policy Before making your payment please be aware of our cancellation and refund policies For Fall and Spring Semester Residents Once accepted to stay at International House and up to the cancellation deadline a 100 non refundable reservation fee 7 of total refund will be charged upon cancellation of contract The license of an incoming student may be cancelled without further penalty 60 days prior to the official Fall semester move in date and 45 days prior to the Spring semester move in date The financial penalties for voiding a signed license without meeting the deadline are as follows After the deadline and up to 14 days prior to the move in date 2 155 00 will be forfeited 14 days prior to move in date and thereafter no refunds will be given on a broken contract For Summer Winter Residents Once accepted to stay at International House and up to 14 days prior to the move in date a 100 non refundable reservation fee 7 of total refund will be charged upon notification of cancellation Less than 14 days prior to move in or once a resident has moved in to the International House no refunds will be provided Please note that for Russian Music Competition participants no refunds will be provided For Parking Fees Requests for cancellation of reserved parking will be reviewed at the discretion of the Director Refunds may be pro rated and a 7 cancellation charge will be levied in addition to funds owed For Linen To rent linen from I House for the entire semester the cost is a non refundable 50 rental fee and a 50 refundable deposit Both must be paid by credit card We will refund the linen deposit upon return of all linen in good condition Back to Top Meal Plan Options The Dining Commons DC is an
