  • Concentration in International and Comparative Law | SLU LAW
    SLU Zone Planet Sub Papa John s Mississippi Mud Coffee Medina Flamingo Bowl Drunken Fish Caruso s Deli Bella s Frozen Yogurt Cafe Smoothie King Home Centers Center for International and Comparative Law Concentration in International and Comparative Law Concentration in International and Comparative Law Each Concentration student must complete at least 10 credits of coursework in international and comparative law Three of those credits must include the law school s International Law course Each Concentration student must also complete a substantial research paper on an international or comparative law topic Students may earn up to six credits from SLU LAW s Summer Program in Madrid that will count toward the Concentration s 10 credits of coursework requirement Completion of one of the Center s semester abroad programs in France Ireland or Switzerland and the three credit International Law course will completely satisfy the Concentration requirements Availability of these programs is limited Please refer to the Study Abroad page for further information and requirements Please Note Directed research projects and seminar papers that fulfill the substantial writing requirement must be approved in advanced If the paper is written for a seminar or class offered through the Center that faculty member will review the paper for the writing requirement If the paper is written for a class outside of the Center the topic must be pre approved and subsequently reviewed by a member of the CICL faculty with that area of expertise Each student planning to obtain the Concentration must complete the application for a Concentration in International and Comparative Law and return it to Assistant Director Ira Herenda Trako in room 937 Representative Courses for the Concentration in International and Comparative Law Admiralty Anthropology of Law Civil and Political Rights of Immigrants Competition Based Advocacy Moot Court Jessup Moot Court

    excellent restaurants and world renowned museums Day trips can easily be made to Toledo Segovia Avila and Salamanca all jewels of Spanish culture and history For those students who wish to expand their travels even further weekend trips to exciting nearby destinations outside of Spain such as Lisbon Portugal Paris Nice and Lyon France are also popular and easy to get to by train or a short flight And Morocco is next door Program courses are held on Saint Louis University s Madrid campus located in the northwest section of Madrid near many other universities and within a 20 minute subway ride to the city s historical center Eligibility Applicants must be students in good standing who have completed their first year at an ABA approved or state accredited law school Important Deadlines Dates Friday January 22 2016 Summer Law Program in Madrid Early Registration Deadline There is a 300 discount for anyone who applies by the early registration date Friday March 25 2016 Summer Law Program in Madrid Application Deadline 120 deposit due Friday April 22 2016 Summer Law Program in Madrid total tuition and fees due or a copy of the financial aid request must be submitted Sunday May 15 2016 Date by which students should arrive in Madrid Monday May 16 2016 Orientation at SLU Madrid Campus and First Day of Classes Wednesday June 22 2016 Anticipated Final Day of Classes Thursday June 23 2016 Reading Review Day Friday June 24 Monday June 27 2016 Final Exam Period Tuition Books and Fees Six week program 4 800 estimated Books and course handouts are included with tuition Personal expenses are not included as they depend on the student s choice of travel housing and living expenses The 120 registration fee will be credited toward health insurance Program Cancellation
