    illegal activity or other use violating university policy is expressly forbidden Reasonable use for personal purposes such as web surfing email etc is permissible as long as it does not interfere with others use or violate university policy Interfering With Others Use Any use of the computer system that interferes with another s use is unacceptable This includes monopolization of network bandwidth excessive use of disk storage space and running of programs that utilize all of the system resources without relinquishing them Tampering with any university computers including turning them off unplugging them from the network or other devices is also prohibited as this can affect others who are using the system remotely Unauthorized Access Using any account other than your own for any purposes is not allowed Accessing another user s files with the exception of public files share directories and web files is expressly forbidden Any attempt to break into another account guess another user s password or hack into any computer system will be dealt with to the full extent of university policy Academic Honesty All computer use should be consistent with the university s academic honesty policies Any use of the computer systems to violate these policies or the honesty policies in any course will be dealt with according to university policy Privacy Expectations Under typical situations the privacy of user files and data will be respected However there are a couple exceptions to this First the system administrator may need to access and make changes to user account in order to ensure proper running of the department computer systems Secondly with approval of the department chair department faculty may examine the contents of user files to address questions of academic honesty and other violations of university policies Installation and Running of Software Installing software without

    The client software is available in Ritter Hall 225 and 316 and in other computer classrooms on campus The client software is free and runs on Windows Mac and Linux You can download the NoMachine Enterprise Client from https www nomachine com download enterprise As of 2014 NoMachine is only supporting version 4 of their NX client software although our server will still support older clients we recommend installing the newest version to take advantage of all of the new features Note network connections are subject to the restrictions of your Internet Service Provider as well as any local Firewall software on your machine In some cases such as with sluguest wireless this may result in traffic on port 22 being blocked making both ssh and NX connections to turing impossible Instructions for configuring the latest NX software follow Upon startup of the software the following three splash screens are displayed although you may select the Don t show this message again option if you d like You should next be presented with the Recent connections screen If this is your first time using the software you will want to create a new connection by clicking on the icon with the popup label Add a computer the icon is a monitor with a plus sign in the top right corner To create a connection enter the following Name turing Host turing slu edu Protocol SSH Port 22 and then click Continue and then Connect Note If this is not your first time using NX and you have previously created a connection when reaching the Recent connections page you should see an entry for that connection that you may select and hit Connect You should next be at a screen asking for your username and password credentials Enter those credentials for
