  • Athletic Training / Doctor of Physical Therapy Dual Degree | Springfield College
    curriculum is designed to meet all program requirements and standards established by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education CAATE The Springfield College athletic training major developed in 1975 is a challenging competency based professional preparation program leading toward eligibility to take the Board of Certification BOC examination in athletic training Students will complete clinical experiences under the direct supervision of BOC certified and Massachusetts licensed athletic trainers The supervised clinical experiences take place at Springfield College as well as in approved affiliate settings off of the campus including high schools colleges and health care facilities At the end of the fourth year of study if all academic and curricular requirements have been met students graduate with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training After earning this degree students are eligible to sit for the board examination in athletic training while continuing their studies in physical therapy Starting the summer after the completion of the bachelor of science degree students enter the doctoral program in physical therapy Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education CAPTE this program allows students to experience the perfect mix of academic and hands on clinical work needed to become a practicing physical therapist The program includes 30 weeks spent in one of our 400 clinical sites throughout the United States At the completion of the three years of graduate study students are awarded a doctorate in physical therapy and are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam NPTE Springfield College s academic programs are enhanced by state of the art facilities The Health Sciences Center includes Donor based state of the art human anatomy laboratory Neuroscience laboratory Dedicated physical therapy laboratory The Athletic Training Exercise Science Complex features interactive and experiential learning environments including Human performance laboratory Strength
