    day These activities can include art materials books puzzles small blocks geometric shapes and lacing materials We encourage children to eat at home but if a child does bring breakfast to the center they can eat it during this time We encourage healthy breakfast options Developmental areas covered Fine motor development social development math fine arts 9 9 45 a m The children participate in morning circle where they re encouraged to share things including what they did at home the night before and the activities they ll be participating in that day We also read stories during this time Developmental areas covered Social and language development early literacy 9 45 10 a m We reserve this time period for children to use the bathroom and have a snack We provide healthy snacks and beverages to the children There are some occasions where we will have different snacks to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays Developmental areas covered Nutrition health social and language development 10 11 a m During this time the children are able to participate in free play or structured activities There are various learning centers set up throughout the classroom including a block area dramatic play area library and writing center During this time we also offer a variety of art cooking and science activities Developmental areas covered Literacy social and language development math nutrition science and fine art 11 11 50 a m The children will clean up their morning activities and prepare to go outside weather permitting While outside the children will have access to the climber sandbox with digging and modeling toys the trucks and tricycles and various other gross motor equipment We have a large outdoor art easels available for the children to use When the weather does not allow us to go outside we ll take out art materials and an assortment of equipment for the children to use for exercise including trampolines balance beams rolling mats yoga tapes and mats and a large selection of dance music Developmental areas covered Gross motor development fine motor development social development 11 50 a m to 12 40 p m The children wash up and sit down for lunch This is not only a time for them to eat it is important social time They are allowed to sit with their friends but also are encouraged to sit with other children in the class with whom they do not spend as much time The children are encouraged to eat their healthy food first We talk about the difference between healthy food and sometimes foods Development areas covered Social development health nutrition 12 40 12 50 p m The children use this time to clean up their lunch items use the bathroom and collect any special items that they use to make resting time more comfortable for them Many children bring special blankets or stuffed animals We do encourage quiet objects and items that support peaceful behavior Action figures such as Spider Man and Batman

    Classes In addition to the general spring 2016 Campus Recreation Group Exercise Schedule the following classes are offered to Springfield College Employee Wellness participants Jan 25 through May 4 There will be no classes on Feb 15 and there will be a modified schedule during spring break and finals All classes are held the Wellness and Recreation Complex room 214 Registration is not required to participate in these classes If you would like a private introduction to any class please email Kate at kluscombe springfieldcollege edu or Jessica Ballister at jballister springfieldcollege edu Tabata Training Join us on Mondays from 12 05 to 12 50 p m for a great H I I T high intensity interval training workout that will blast calories during and after your workout Modifications are given for all fitness levels Yoga Join us Tuesdays from 12 05 to 12 55 p m for a yoga class that offers appropriate modifications for both beginners and experienced students Classes teach comfortable alignment improved respiration stress relief and relaxation Flexibility is NOT a prerequisite for this class BODYPUMP TM BODYPUMP the original Les Mills barbell class will sculpt tone and strengthen your entire body BODYPUMP will help you burn fat gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning This class is held from 12 05 to 12 50 p m on Wednesdays Yogalates This class will be held on Thursdays from 12 05 to 12 55 p m Enjoy the best of both worlds in this unique class that incorporates the physical conditioning of Pilates with the mind body experience of yoga Yogalates will also incorporate balance work to target your entire core Guts Butts and Thighs This class will focus on the abdominals glutes and legs The instructor will lead you through abdominal core exercises squats lunges a variety of lower body moves This class will be held on Fridays from 12 05 to 12 50 p m Wellness Wednesdays Employee Wellness participants are invited to attend monthly wellness seminars that include a lecture and discussion Healthy lunches provided by ARAMARK are offered during these seminars which are held in the Athletic Training and Exercise Science building Room 225 OR PE Complex Room 117 from 12 12 45 p m Please register by the Friday before each program Back in the Groove Wednesday Feb 3 ATES 225 You may have fallen into a fitness rut over the holidays We are here to help you get back into the groove Learn about setting realistic resolutions and techniques for exercise adherence Registration is required Register here Wheat Seminar Wednesday March 2 ATES 225 Join us and learn about how wheat really affects our bodies Registration is required Register here Back Care Wednesday April 6 PE 117 Dr Sue Guyer will present tips on how to take care of your back Topics may range from desk ergonomics to exercise to sleeping conditions etc Registration is required Register here Long Term Programs March Into May Get moving this semester with
