  • Admission Requirements | Tougaloo College
    SAT examination Provisional Admission Students who do not meet the admission requirements of the College may appeal to the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee The students must submit three letters of recommendation from school or college officials where they matriculated The Committee reviews all cases and considers each on its own merit and then advises the Admissions Office of its disposition If admission is granted the students may be admitted conditionally The probation period is for one semester during which time the students academic progress is monitored by the Committee Policy on Home Schooling Applications for admission from students who were educated at home are generally treated like other applicants Students should submit the following 1 Application for admission 2 Application fee 3 Essay 4 SAT or ACT score if under 25 years of age 5 Letter or reference 6 High school equivalent transcript issued by agency school or individual overseeing the curriculum including the official date of graduation or GED 7 Academic portfolio 8 Diploma or certificate of completion from Home Schoolers Association if applicable Early Admission Students on the eleventh 11th grade level may apply for early admission to the College and may be admitted as accelerated students upon completion of the 11th grade To be considered for admission in this category students must submit an official copy of the high school transcript having earned a B 3 00 average or better in an accredited high school curriculum and a score of 18 or better on the enhanced ACT assessment or a score of eight hundred 800 or better on the SAT Transfer Students Individuals wishing to transfer from other accredited institutions may petition for admission to Tougaloo by providing the following 1 Official application 2 Official copies of all previous college transcripts 3 C 2 00 or better grade point average 4 Evidence of good academic standing at previous institution and statement of eligibility to return Generally academic credit will be awarded for transfer work where a grade of C or better was earned The course work must be college level academic work The College will accept up to 64 hours from a community or other two year institution Individuals with advanced standing seeking a degree at Tougaloo must spend the final academic year in residence During this period they must take at least 30 semester hours of credit and must achieve an average grade of C or higher Transfer Agreements Tougaloo College has transfer agreements with the following community colleges Hinds Community College Raymond MS Coahoma Community College Clarksdale MS Mary Holmes College West Point MS St Louis Community College Florissant MO Admission preferences and maximum transferability of credits are ensured for students who apply from these colleges International Students The College considers international students to be those individuals whose country of origin is outside the United States International students shall meet all of the requirements as any other student who seeks admission to the College by submitting an application proof of high school graduation and

    Photo galleries Religious Life Residential Life Residence Halls Residence Hall Key Replacement Policy Student Activities Clubs and Organizations Greek Life Student Government Association Tougaloo King and Queen Tougaloo College Cheer Squad Student Complaint Form Student Handbook Students Achievement Profile Title IX Student Dress Code Policy Tougaloo College Eaglet Creed You are here Admissions Office of the Bursar Payment Information Tuition and fees at Tougaloo College are maintained at the lowest possible cost consistent with other private colleges In fact tuition and fees paid by the student cover less than one third of the total cost of operating the College The remainder comes from the endowments contributions alumni and other public spirited persons and grants from government agencies private foundations and corporations In estimating the total cost of attending Tougaloo College students should also include an additional 600 00 per semester for books and supplies The cost of travel clothing and personal items is not included in the tuition package The College reserves the right to correct errors in student charges that are discovered subsequent to initial billings or fee assessment All fees are subject to change by the Administration and Board of Trustees without prior notice Payment of Tuition and Fees Tuition and fees are due in full at registration A student s registration is not considered complete for any given semester until all expenses are paid in full or acceptable payment arrangements are made through the Bursar s Office A late registration fee will be assessed for fees paid after the first day of classes College policy requires timely payment for all charges owed to Tougaloo College including but not limited to tuition and fees library fines traffic parking fines medical expenses residential charges and late fees Withdrawal from classes does not negate the student s responsibility to pay the balance of fees after the semester has begun Per Federal regulations on the right to privacy statements will be addressed to the student s permanent address Therefore the student is ultimately responsible for payment Parents guardians or anyone else may not receive specific information about a student s bill credit balance or excess refund checks If a parent or another third party is accepting responsibility for making payments on the student s behalf it is the responsibility of the student to SHARE ALL correspondence including billing statements with those individuals Deferred Payment Plan Although all charges are due in full at registration students in good financial standing at Tougaloo College may choose the Tuition Payment Plan offered by the College s educational partner There is a charge See Explanation of Fees to enroll in the plan and the student must sign a consent agreement that makes each student liable for the payment of all charges and fees incurred by the student while enrolled Any student who has not made satisfactory arrangements with the business office regarding his her account may be administratively withdrawn from Tougaloo College A late fee will be assessed to the accounts of all students who
