    Columbia 1985 the master s from Yale University 1982 which he attended on a fellowship and the J D from Hofstra University 1981 where he was the editor in chief of the Hofstra Law Review and was named the outstanding law graduate by the faculty Dean Randall has taken additional coursework in the executive education programs at the Harvard Business School and the Columbia University Business School Dean Randall practiced law with the Wall Street firm of Simpson Thacher Bartlett from 1982 to 1984 He joined the Alabama faculty in 1985 and was selected by students as the outstanding faculty member 1987 88 He served as vice dean from 1989 to 1993 and as dean from 1993 to the present Dean Randall is the author of an international law book published by Duke University Press his articles have appeared in some of the nation s leading law journals including the Columbia Texas Minnesota Washington University St Louis Ohio State and N Y U International law reviews He has served the American Bar Association as an inspector for the re accreditation of more than a dozen law schools throughout the nation He previously served as Special Counsel to the University President

    on the editorial board of African Law Studies and was case editor for the Journal of Ethiopian Law Professor Singer has served as a graduate fellow at Harvard a research fellow at Yale University an assistant professor and visiting scholar at Haile Selassie I University now known as Addis Ababa University a visiting scholar at the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade Yugoslavia and a visiting professor of law at the University of Khartoum Professor Singer came to The University of Alabama in 1971 as an associate professor of law and became a lecturer in anthropology in 1975 He was named professor of law in 1977 professor of anthropology in 1978 and the Charles O Stokes Professor of Law and Anthropology in 1993 He served as assistant representative for the Ford Foundations s Middle East Region in Khartoum Sudan from 1980 82 and as a staff attorney office manager for the Montego Bay Legal Aid Clinic from 1984 to 1989 He actively participates in international activities with the United Nations Development Programme USAID FAO the World Bank the Inter American Development Bank the Asian Development Bank the Land Tenure Center of the University of Wisconsin and the Terra Institute He served as a member of the board of the Center for Economic Research in Africa and a board member of Terra Institute in Madison Wisconsin From 1998 through 2001 he was the Team Leader for a grant which was designed to provide capacity building at Mekele University in northern Ethiopia This was followed by the development of a program through the University of Alabama to provide young law teachers for schools of law I n Ethiopia there were fifteen people who went to Ethiopia to teach law in both public and private faculties of law between 2003 and 2010 Finally

    of the Coif and he received a B A degree from New College in Sarasota Florida He clerked for the Honorable Gerald Bard Tjoflat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Professor Stein taught in a number of areas at the law school especially in the areas of Federal taxation employee benefits labor law and poverty law His research has explored various aspects of the delivery of retirement and health benefits to American workers He has authored or co authored three books and numerous articles on retirement social insurance tax and financial security Professor Stein has testified before Congress on fifteen occasions has served on the Department of Labor s ERISA Advisory Counsel and the General Accounting Office s Expert Panel on Retirement Security was a delegate at the 2002 and 2006 White House Summit on Retirement Savings was a member of the Academic Advisory Panel to the Joint Committee on Taxation and has served as Chair of the Employee Benefits Section of the American Association of Law Schools and as Secretary of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Insurance He was also Treasurer of
