    in our clubs UCIB or just how the school had changed since they left Students made connections with employers and alumni throughout the Hong Kong portion of the trek The students then traveled to Singapore where they visited seven more employers and had the chance to compare and contrast the opportunities in both cities Companies visited by the students in Singapore included Temasek Bain Company Marina Bay Sands Bank of Singapore GIC Aon and Bloomberg where they met with presenters and representatives Third year Anna Kim noted that The presenters were not only awesome in their own right most were in high positions and had a wealth of career and life experiences to speak about but were approachable honest and funny The students gained a wealth of knowledge during the trek both in terms of thinking about future plans and networking opportunities To learn more about the Trek program including a comprehensive map of trek locations and hosting opportunities please visit our website Interested in hosting students on a trek Find out how here Isis Smalls UChicago Volleyball Star Alumna Crowned Miss Houston Isis Smalls AB 12 talks about how UChicago Careers in Business contributes to her success After weekends spent prepping for competition the newly crowned Miss Houston Isis Smalls credits her success on the pageant stage to her education at UChicago and her involvement in sports Spotted in high school and recruited for her impressive prowess as a volleyball player Isis immediately felt welcome on UChicago s campus She noted I knew it was a school that was well known for academics and that I could work in my love of volleyball An anthropology major Isis shined on the court she was UChicago s first All American volleyball player and record breaker for the most points scored in a season and in a career Isis credits her sports background with her continued success noting that being able to stay calm under pressure has helped her in every aspect of her life From her position with Teach for America where she serves as a 6th Grade Reading English teacher Isis finds her sports training continues to serve her It s the same way in the classroom there are going to be so many things everyday that are going to throw you off It s the same thing with pageants knowing how to understand and how to respond under pressure Isis continues her involvement in volleyball through Girls in the Game helping to empower young women through sports While at UChicago Isis realized her ultimate dream would be to have a gym that was affordable for low income families Unsure how to follow this vision Isis began working with the UChicago Careers in Business UCIB program where she was introduced to a new way to think about her dream Isis remembered Before UCIB I knew what I was passionate about but now how to put it together They exposed me to what I could do with my passions During her
