    Giving Current Endowments Powering the New Engineer to Transform the Future Events Contact Us Update Your Contact Information NSF s Epicenter selects Gator Engineering students as fellows Published March 4th 2015 Category Engineering Innovation Institute News Two Gator Engineering students have been selected for University Innovation Fellows a program of the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation Epicenter which is funded by the National Science Foundation and housed at Stanford University Natalie DeVarona and Daniel Kleinman both mentored by Erik Sander director of UF s Engineering Innovation Institute were among 123 student leaders from around the country who were recently selected The fellowship program seeks to empower engineering students to increase their campus engagement with entrepreneurship innovation creativity design thinking and venture creation They are encouraged to become agents of change Our program provides a platform for Fellows to learn to be strategic thinkers examine the landscape of learning opportunities at their schools and formulate action plans to implement their ideas said Leticia Britos Cavagnaro co leader of the Fellows program and Deputy Director of Epicenter Fellows develop a community and share strategies about what s working at their schools Ultimately these students with their drive and motivation are leading accelerated change in higher education Cammy Abernathy dean of UF College of Engineering was selected as a member of Epicenter s National Advisory Board in spring of 2014 See a list of all the University Innovation Fellows and learn more about the program Tagged as University Innovation Fellows Tweet Protecting Coastal Communities for the Gator Good UF Transportation Institute Director Recognized for her Leadership Recent News Announcing the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Jan 26th 2016 Tornado preparedness Lessons from the aftermath Jan 26th 2016 Florida Governor recognizes UF Engineering alumnus with Young Entrepreneurship Award Jan 22nd 2016 Defending

    to establish a process to nominate one or two students with demonstrated leadership Criteria Minimum 2 years of University leadership experience in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering or otherwise office or executive board of a student society student group student council student government Demonstrated dedication to the community around them i e peer advisor campus tour leader volunteer etc Dedication and commitment to leadership i e years of service increasing levels of responsibility state regional national exposure The scholarships are for use towards tuition fees unless the student has received scholarship fellowship or other funding sources maximizing tuition fees expenses In that event the funds will be allocated to the student without restrictions Eligibility Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering students Junior and senior undergraduates master s and Ph D students Students with good academic standing Full time students Minimum 3 00 cumulative GPA Demonstrated financial need Nomination Process Call for nominations begins Monday September 14 2015 Nomination by department chair graduate coordinator graduate staff undergraduate coordinator and or undergraduate staff Maximum of two nominations per department All faculty and staff should collaborate for department nominations Departments nominating two students should rank the students as their first and second selection choice Nominate the scholarship candidate via the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering online application https www eng ufl edu leadership students 3 thomas o hunter leadership scholarship thomas o hunter leadership scholarship nomination form Deadline of 5 00 pm Friday November 6 2015 Requirements Nomination application One faculty letter of recommendation in support of the nomination Student statement of leadership This is a one page statement answering the question What does leadership mean to you Demonstrated financial need Domestic students U S Citizens Permanent Residents complete the FAFSA for official determination by Student Financial Affairs International students complete the SFA
