    International Student Awards UFIC Outstanding International Student Award Alec Courtelis Award Upcoming Events Contact Undergraduate Research University Scholars Program EGN 4912 Engineering Undergraduate Research Upcoming Events K 12 Outreach Programs Gator Outreach Program Interest Form Introduction to Engineering Design and Programming Students in the Gator Engineering Santa Fe program will take part in EGN 1935 Introduction to Engineering Design and Programming taught at Santa Fe College by Dr Dan Dickrell and Dr Philip Jackson Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering faculty members just for them This class allows students hands on experience in a collaborative working group environment and will provide real engineering and transferrable skills prior to starting their upper division junior and senior level classes Students will gain experience in design software such as Solid Works thus giving them an advantage in their other classes and increasing their marketability when searching for a job or internship I had never been part of a design project before and it was a great learning experience With this head start I was able to excel in both my studies and involvement Andrew Schwartz Gator Civil Engineering student The course is taught from a general engineering perspective in such a way that relates to all engineering majors The culmination of the engineering design project will involve both individual and group elements and will be relatively open ended so that groups may tailor their final projects in a direction to their collective liking Specific attention will be paid to how design engineers must be aware of larger societal issues such as sustainability environmental impact and the benefits of social improvement through technical achievement rather than working alone in a vacuum Students interested in entrepreneurial endeavors will find value in discussions of intellectual property business creation and innovation opportunities in the UF community and elsewhere

    UF housing until you are considered a UF student usually around the second semester after successful completion of all mandatory courses There are several off campus options for students seeking housing Santa Fe College has a website with available resources http www sfcollege edu studentlife index php section housing What about financial aid You will need to either submit or adjust your FAFSA to include both the University of Florida AND Santa Fe College The FAFSA code for Santa Fe is 001519 and the FAFSA code for UF is 001535 By adding Santa Fe College to your FAFSA this will trigger a notification to you that you need to apply to Santa Fe Please ignore this notification Your confirmation of participation in this program will serve as your application to Santa Fe and multiple applications can cause a delay in processing So am I a UF student or a Santa Fe student You will be considered a Santa Fe student during your first semester of study and you will continue to earn credits towards the AA degree from Santa Fe College Pending successful completion of the tracking requirements you will become a UF student during your second semester of study Spring 2016 What happens if I don t meet the tracking requirements for the program If you do not meet the tracking requirements you will be placed on probation and will remain a Santa Fe student during the spring term If at the end of the spring term you remove yourself from probation you will then be considered a UF student If you are not able to remove yourself from probation by the end of the third semester you will have the option to remain at Santa Fe to complete your AA degree and you will then be able to apply to UF as a transfer student Where will I go for advising The College of Engineering Undergraduate Student Affairs office has a dedicated staff member who will be available for advising GE SF students and will be present on both Santa Fe s campus as well as UF s campus The UF SF Center also known as the Gator Den will be available for students participating in this program Do I have to get an AA Yes Upon completion of the requirements for the Associate s degree you will earn an AA degree from Santa Fe College Will the courses count for both Santa Fe College and UF Yes Pending successful completion of tracking courses and beginning at the University of Florida the courses taken at Santa Fe College will be applied to the UF degree The courses taken at UF that will count towards the AA degree will be shared with Santa Fe College so that you can be awarded your AA degree from SF Will I have to reapply to UF As long as you successfully complete the required tracking courses you will be admitted to UF without having to reapply However if you do not remain
