    studying abroad is beyond their reach because it is too expensive But if proper planning and research is done beforehand the cost of studying abroad may not cost more than spending a semester in Gainesville There are ways to finance your experience through financial aid and or scholarships Financial Aid You can be eligible for financial aid for study abroad for all types of programs For UF students a budget with cost of program will be sent to Student Financial Affairs after completing Financial Aid questionnaire during online application Florida Bright Futures For fall spring and academic year programs Not available for summer term Florida Prepaid All semesters including summer Federal grants and loans For a student taking classes abroad for UF credit payments from financial aid will be processed through University Financial Services as if the student were taking those classes on campus UFIC Scholarships The Daniel Sinclair Bredahl Scholarships Awards are given for fall semester or academic year programs To be eligible for an award students must be studying abroad for at least 90 days The fall semester scholarships award 2 000 each The academic year scholarship awards 4 000 Qualifications for all Bredahl Scholarships UF undergraduate student currently enrolled with successful completion of one academic year of study At least 18 years of age GPA of at least 3 0 United States citizen or legal permanent resident of the U S Eligibility for an academic year or semester study abroad program Website http ufic ufl edu BredahlScholarship html UF International Center Scholarships Students studying for a semester or academic year on either a UF Sponsored or UF Approved program Students applying for Fall Spring must be studying abroad for at least 90 days Academic Year Scholarships are for 2 000 while semester scholarships are for 1 000 UFIC Summer Scholarships Students who are attending UF Sponsored summer programs Summer scholarships award 1 000 each UFIC Summer Merit Scholarships Awarded to students with a minimum of 3 5 GPA Attending UF Sponsored or UF Approved Summer programs Each of the scholarships is for 1000 Wentworth Honors Scholarships Designated for Honors students Each of the scholarships is for 1000 Irene Phillips Alliance Scholarships Designated specifically for Alliance Scholars The number and amount of awards vary These scholarships are available for both the summer and semester terms Learn more about the UFIC Scholarship Application Process External Scholarships Institute of International Education IIE Study Abroad Funding Hundreds of study abroad scholarships fellowships grants and paid internships for U S undergraduate graduate and post graduate students and professionals Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program Provides awards for U S undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two year or four year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide Open to US citizen undergraduate students Freeman ASIA Provides scholarships for U S undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia Ernst Mach Grant For undergraduates graduates studying for
