    Seminar 2009 Seminar Study Centers Office of Public Leadership Regional Economics Applications Laboratory About Charles P Wolff The Charles P Wolff Memorial Internship Program at the Institute of Government and Public Affairs is made possible by the Charles P Wolff Memorial Endowment Fund Sheryl Pitts Wolff established this Fund out of love for and in memory of her first husband Charles P Wolff whose commitment to public service and public policy was evident throughout his life Charles Chas Wolff received a Bachelor s Degree in 1970 from the College of Applied Life Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign In 1973 he joined the Chicago staff of Senator Adlai Stevenson and served as an assistant to the senator for six years During that time he met and married Senator Stevenson s Washington D C Senate aide Sheryl Pitts Chas Wolff strongly believed in and encouraged participation of citizens in the policy decision making process at all levels of government This was manifested in his own election to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees in 1986 where his fellow Trustees later expressed their faith in his leadership by electing him president of that group in 1989 Chas Wolff

    Residence The Alumna in Residence will have the unique opportunity to work with University of Illinois staff and state legislators to plan and execute the program The Alumna in Residence will also act as a mentor to members of the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois class The Alumna in Residence will play an important role in helping students prepare for the mock press conference and mock hearing Applications will be accepted until Monday February 15 Responsibilities Be an active member of the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois coordination team which includes various event management tasks such as registration and set up communication with speakers and presenters etc Attend and staff the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois program taking place June 6 10 2016 Reside in the residence hall with participants staff and legislators Act as a mentor to 2016 participants Help students prepare for the mock press conference and mock hearing Attend monthly planning meetings via phone beginning in February 2016 Serve as a moderator during Q A time with guest speakers Create and manage an active social media plan for the NEWL Facebook account Other tasks as assigned Qualifications Applicant must be an alumna of NEW Leadership Illinois any year Commitment to
