    2010 and 2011 Chicago Area Studies Events Immigration in the Suburbs Insights from the 2010 2011 Chicago Area Study Held Thursday April 3 2014 at the Great Cities Institute Immigration is transforming the face of America from rural areas to urban centers The 2010 and 2011 Chicago Area Studies explored how immigration and the experiences of immigrants are unfolding in an increasingly important context new suburban destinations In 2010 and 2011 a team of faculty and graduate students under the auspices of the Chicago Area Study embarked upon a large scale data collection effort in 6 communities in Lake County Illinois These efforts resulted in a rich source of survey ethnographic and in depth interview data that can shed light on interpersonal and institutional dynamics of the immigrant experience in the suburbs This program will feature short research presentations by faculty and graduate students who are analyzing these data as well as information on the wealth of CAS data that may be used by other scholars interested in exploring these topics Chicago Area Study Welcome to the Chicago Area Study Mission History People CAS Projects Program Structure For Faculty CAS Research Grants For Students CAS Methods Training Publications News Events
