  • Cwiertny Named Early Scholar of the Year – Water Sustainability Initiative
    Cwiertny Named Early Scholar of the Year Posted on May 21st 2014 David Cwiertny David Cwiertny has been chosen to receive the University of Iowa s Early Career Scholar of the Year Award which honors faculty members who have served five or fewer years at the UI and who are currently involved in research or scholarly activity demonstrating significant promise Cwiertny is also an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and an associate research engineer at IIHR Hydroscience Engineering He came to the university in 2011 as part of the Water Sustainability Initiative His research group focuses on chemical pollutants in natural and engineered water systems with a particular emphasis on the environmental effects of pollutants and the development of treatment technologies that promote water reuse Cwiertny has also received a National Science Foundation CAREER award and he serves on the editorial advisory board for Environmental Science and Technology the leading journal in his field He has developed courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels related to society s pursuit of sustainable water resources and is the current director of civil and environmental engineering graduate studies Tags awards David Cwiertny IIHR National Science Foundation NSF
