    been verified and validated for many applications including high speed vessels The current available versions are including CFDShip Iowa V4 5 V6 1 V6 2 and V6 25 CFDShip Iowa V4 5 is an incompressible URANS DES solver designed for ship hydrodynamics using structured multiblock and overset grids A single phase level set approach is used for free surface tracking and a semi coupled air water immersed boundary method is employed for two phase computations The functionalities of the code include 6DOF motions turbulence modeling moving control surfaces multi objects advanced controllers propulsion models incoming waves and winds bubbly flow and fluid structure interaction CFDShip Iowa V6 with fully coupled two phase flow solvers is already under development for milestone achievement in increased capability focusing on orders of magnitude improvements in accuracy robustness and exascale HPC capability The level set based ghost fluid method is used for sharp interface treatment with a volume of fluid VOF method for interface tracking Current capabilities are for Cartesian grids with immersed boundary methods V6 1 for orthogonal curvilinear grids V6 2 for overset Cartesian orthogonal curvilinear grids V6 25 and extensions in progress for non orthogonal curvilinear grids 6 3 Functional areas include fast model scale sinkage trim prediction and other fundamental studies such as water impact and slamming V6 1 wave breaking and wave body interactions with simple geometries such as cylinder sphere wedge foil and small scale interfacial phenomena such as bubble droplet size and distribution V6 2 V6 3 will be a general multi block structured grid solver based on V6 1 and V6 2 It will maintain and extend the higher order advection and volume conservative interface tracking schemes and enhanced capabilities of handling complex geometries in ship hydrodynamics with all the grids and functional areas found in V4

    equations with a variety of turbulence models and a single phase level set method to accommodate free surface problems It is based upon structured grids and higher order finite differencing and has both patched grid and ghost cell block to block communication Complex geometries are treated using overset grids by interfacing with the overset interpolation codes Pegasus NASA or Suggar PET ARL Motions are possible by using dynamic overset grids through Suggar The code is parallel and runs under MPI CFDShip Iowa is fully general and has been applied to a range of external flow problems Boundary conditions input parameters and grid dimensions are set external to the code Since it has been specifically developed for surface ship and marine propulsor flow problems it has an array of ship hydrodynamic specific subroutines and post processors Typical applications in naval hydrodynamics include Resistance friction and pressure drag Wave Profiles including breaking waves Seakeeping the code is 6DOF capable and Maneuvering a mix of imposed and predicted degrees of freedom is possible Additional capabilities include propeller models multi object interaction and regular and irregular waves Application Form License Agreement Waiver of Liability Tags CFD CFDShip Iowa computational fluid dynamics IIHR UI engineering
