    and debate Our team regularly competes in twelve pubic speaking events and three forms of debate at many tournaments throughout the region This past year the team placed 14 th at the Pi Kappa Delta national tournament in Indianapolis IN Students of any major are welcome on the team No previous speech or debate experience is required Competition in speech and debate can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career It is an essential skill for those entering the workforce http www edweek org ew articles 2014 08 12 01deards h34 html especially those who want to become leaders in their field https www youtube com watch v 4cJ5mG8Ml64 Speech and debate will set you apart so make sure to audition for the UK Forensics Team To find out more you can also attend one of our information meetings held in the Fine Arts Library 7 00 P M Thursday LCLI 301 or 5 00 P M Friday LCLI 303 To become a member of the team students will need to go through the audition process This year tryouts will be held September 2nd and September 3rd in Breckinridge Hall room 413 The individual tryouts take

    Newsletters List of Communication Journals Communication Associations Student Resources Student Showcase Student Awards Example Essays Example Speeches Example Digital Projects Communication Tips from Faculty Writing Tips from Students Presentation Tips from Students You are here Home UK Forensics Awarded National Grant Submitted by tjbi223 on August 14 2014 2 06pm LEXINGTON Ky August 14 2014 The University of Kentucky Forensics team has been awarded a nationally competitive grant from the forensics honorary Pi Kappa Delta The grant project will fund the development of instructional materials that will become part of a national resource database for new coaches and teams Over the next few weeks members of the UK Forensics team will be hard at work recording videos of sample speeches that illustrate successful techniques and strategies for several public speaking events We re incredibly appreciative of this opportunity from Pi Kappa Delta says Director Timothy Bill This grant not only allows us to showcase our students hard work over the past couple of years but it also allows us to contribute to a resource that will help other new teams get started for years to come The finished materials including the sample videos will be posted to the Pi Kappa

    Projects Communication Tips from Faculty Writing Tips from Students Presentation Tips from Students You are here Home UK Forensics Competes at NFA National Tournament Submitted by tjbi223 on April 28 2014 4 28pm The University of Kentucky Forensics Team recently traveled to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti MI to take part in the National Forensic Association national tournament This national event is the largest individual events tournament in the country with over 1 500 speeches entered in the competition Four competitors from UK s Forensics Team took part in this national tournament While no students advanced to the elimination rounds the team was able to quadruple their performance from the past year Overall this allowed the team to place 14th in President s Division II of the team sweepstakes competition The past two years have really been incredible says Director of Forensics Timothy Bill The team continues to meet and exceed all of my expectations for such a young program The NFA national tournament was the team s last competition for this academic year Here are some statistics from the 2013 2014 season Number of miles traveled 3 923 Number of nights in a hotel 18 Number of individual awards
