    Update Form Faculty Research College Directory Facilities Faculty Staff Resources Office of Research Research Programs Giving Contact Fellows How to Give Mission Types of Gifts Endowments Funds Scholarships Who Benefits Initiatives Diversity CI Consulting Innovation Entrepreneurial Thinking International Affairs Research Programs News Media Calendar Contact Expert Guide Images Press Releases Videos You are here Home CI Alumnus Recognized for Charitable Work Jeremy L Jarvi CI 02 has recently been named as one of Louisville s New Faces of Philanthropy for 2013 For the past four years Louisville s Nfocus magazine has recognized members of the community who have made great strides and advancements in support of various charities This year the magazine acknowledged five people who have shown enormous generosity and compassion for their respective philanthropies The Team Shaan Foundation came to fruition 16 years ago after the unexpected passing of a close friend Shaan Willis who lost control of his car during a heavy flood while on his way home from a friend s house In March of 1997 Jarvi president of the Foundation and other founding board members vowed to start a charity in Shaan s honor The mission is simple To provide support and opportunities to local youth within the community who strive to succeed Since its creation the Foundation has been highly successful in raising money for multiple organizations including the Center for Women and Families the Kosair Children s Hospital as well as a scholarship fund for students who are unable to afford a Catholic education at St Xavier High School in Louisville Ky Despite his allegiance to alma mater and rival high school Trinity High School Jarvi and the Foundation have helped raise over 200 000 for the RaShaan Roland Willis Scholarship Fund at St X Jarvi was elected in 2010 for a three

    all CBS affiliate stations news directors and general managers throughout the country and will also continue to book and produce news and entertainment segments for CBS News Prior to her recent promotion Cathy was a Supervising Producer and Music Booker for CBS News The Early Show and The Saturday Early Show 2002 2011 and before that she served as Producer and Music Booker 1997 2002 In these roles she was responsible for booking musical guests for the programs outdoor concert series and producing a range of music entertainment features and hard news segments She has worked with a wide variety of artists such as Prince Beyoncé Luther Vandross Stevie Wonder Garth Brooks Elton John Whitney Houston Janet Jackson Celine Dion Sting Adele Rihanna Kanye West Katy Perry Tina Turner and Marc Anthony Her duties have also included producing concerts throughout the US and overseas such as the Summer In The City concert series for The Early Show Miami Superbowl XLIV 2010 concerts Los Angeles and New York Grammy Award concerts Las Vegas ACM Academy of Country Music Award and Nashville CMA Country Music Association Award Concerts and Performances International concerts have included Lenny Kravitz Live from Paris Ringo Starr Live from Liverpool and a special performance of Phantom of the Opera Live from Paris In addition she has covered a number of musical award shows including the Grammy Awards the MTV Awards the Academy of Country Music Awards the CMA Awards the Soul Train and BET Awards and VH 1 Divas Black has also produced a variety of series and features for CBS News including The Early Show series Week of Wishes and a Mother s Day series featuring the mothers of Beyoncé Knowles Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken She has also covered a wide range of important news events

    Staff Resources Office of Research Research Programs Giving Contact Fellows How to Give Mission Types of Gifts Endowments Funds Scholarships Who Benefits Initiatives Diversity CI Consulting Innovation Entrepreneurial Thinking International Affairs Research Programs News Media Calendar Contact Expert Guide Images Press Releases Videos You are here Home David T Thompson Submitted by kosta on June 10 2011 3 39pm Executive Director Kentucky Press Association The Kentucky Press Association KPA is a membership organization for newspapers in Kentucky All newspapers in Kentucky are members of KPA The Association has attained 100 percent membership since 1993 They put on conventions seminars for newspapers challenging today because of the constant changes in technology They operate an advertising placement service a Freedom of Information Hotline and lobby the legislation on any and all issues related to open government From the hallowed walls of the journalism building in the 1960 s and 1970 s with portable and not electric typewriters to today what a difference Now they keep up websites and Twitter and Facebook accounts and even find newspapers getting into broadcast with video on websites of breaking news and sharing content with media across the state and even the U S on an almost instant basis KPA finds itself trying to keep up with the most modern technology at member newspapers while encouraging others to quit lagging behind and get up to date with communication Thompson graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1974 with a degree in Journalism Prior to attending UK he was a sports writer for the Lexington Herald from 1964 1968 and 1969 1970 He served in the United States Army in 1968 and 1969 and as a promotion specialist for the Kentucky Department of Public Information from 1970 to 1972 After graduating from UK he was the Promotion Coordinator

    Staff Resources Office of Research Research Programs Giving Contact Fellows How to Give Mission Types of Gifts Endowments Funds Scholarships Who Benefits Initiatives Diversity CI Consulting Innovation Entrepreneurial Thinking International Affairs Research Programs News Media Calendar Contact Expert Guide Images Press Releases Videos You are here Home Deanna Marcum Submitted by kosta on June 10 2011 3 31pm Managing Director Ithaka S R Deanna Marcum was appointed Associate Librarian for Library Services at the Library of Congress on August 11 2003 In this capacity she managed 53 divisions and offices whose over 1 600 employees are responsible for acquisitions cataloging public service and preservation activities services to the blind and physically handicapped and network and bibliographic standards for America s national library She was also responsible for integrating the emerging digital resources into the traditional artifactual library the first step toward building a national digital library for the 21st century In 1995 Dr Marcum was appointed president of the Council on Library Resources and president of the Commission on Preservation and Access She oversaw the merger of these two organizations into the Council on Library and Information Resources CLIR in 1997 and served as president until August 2003 CLIR s mission is to identify the critical issues that affect the welfare and prospects of libraries and archives and the constituencies they serve convene individuals and organizations in the best position to engage these issues and respond to them and encourage institutions to work collaboratively to achieve and manage change Dr Marcum served as Director of Public Service and Collection Management at the Library of Congress from 1993 95 Before that she was the Dean of the School of Library and Information Science at The Catholic University of America From 1980 to 1989 she was first a program officer and then
