of 02 I finished my Ph D in mathematics in 2007 at the University of Virigina specializing in operator theory functional analysis and complex function theory with a particular focus on composition operators on spaces of analytic functions Currently I m an assistant professor in the math department at North Central College in Naperville IL Chicago s biggest suburb The math department at UNC Asheville certainly placed me on this path but the most notable influence I see is in my teaching My professors Peifer McClure Dohse Gale MacLean opened my mind to the world of rigorous mathematics with passion and enthusiasm and provided encouragement and assistance when necessary while at the same time pushing me to reach past the limits of my knowledge The example they set as instructors continues to shape my approach to learning Ten years later I m still motivated by their passion for the subject and hope to pass this on to my students About Math Mission and Student Learning Outcomes Department Calendar What Can I Do With This Major Curriculum Majors Minors Current Classes STAT Current Classes MATH Math Student Handbook Textbooks Parsons Lecture Our Faculty Faculty Staff Our Students Clubs Awards Scholarships Alumni

Contest Science Olympiad Benjamin Radford Class of 10 Whatever your goals mathematics can help you achieve them I graduated from UNC Asheville in May 2010 having majored in mathematics and international studies The mathematics program at UNC Asheville is outstanding The faculty is unbelievably helpful and every professor cares deeply for their students ability to learn and thrive in an academic environment Indeed the Mathematics Department makes every effort to ensure that all students on campus not just those pursuing mathematics have access to the mathematical skills necessary to succeed in every discipline The Math Lab in particular is an invaluable resource for students engaged in quantitative work across all disciplines and was integral to my own education The Math Lab allows professors to assign challenging problems knowing that students will find solutions through cooperation with one another and assistance from the Math Lab staff I hope to apply my background in mathematics to future graduate studies in political science Currently I am awaiting decision letters from various political science PhD programs In graduate school I intend to develop quantitative models of the variables which contribute to the proliferation of weapons across the globe These models in addition to furthering our academic understanding of international relations will help policy makers to formulate more effective strategies for securing international safety The appreciation for mathematics that I gained through interacting with the Department s exceptionally passionate faculty will help me to synthesize logical and thorough arguments in my career as a political scientist About Math Mission and Student Learning Outcomes Department Calendar What Can I Do With This Major Curriculum Majors Minors Current Classes STAT Current Classes MATH Math Student Handbook Textbooks Parsons Lecture Our Faculty Faculty Staff Our Students Clubs Awards Scholarships Alumni Profiles Senior Projects Math Lab Welcome Services Schedule
