    or you are about to teach your first online course we tailor our training to meet your specific needs To register for an upcoming workshop visit the Training Calendar or visit our Training Library to view PDF help sheets and videos or contact Shunta Hailey Online Coordinator at shaily1 uncfsu edu ext 2522 or James Heard Instructional Technologist at jheard uncfsu edu ext 1195 Online and Hybrid Instructor Certification Training Certification involves two steps 1 training and 2 course development and review Certification Training includes the following Blackboard modules depending on whether you are seeking online or hybrid certification Blackboard 101 Blackboard Basics focuses on learning the common functions of Blackboard from the instructor s perspective Blackboard 102 Online Pedagogy focuses on the best practices for developing and teaching high quality online courses Instructors will gain experience from the students perspective in this course Hybrid 102 Hybrid Pedagogy focuses on the best practices and tools for developing and teaching courses that include online and face to face elements or Opting Testing Out experienced instructors may become certified without completing the coursework in BB 101 and BB 102 HYB 102 by passing both the competency exams with scores of 80 or higher and having a fully developed course reviewed by the department chair two colleagues and OFD personnel To become certified instructors must a complete all assignments tasks and assessments in BB 101 and BB 102 HYB 102 and b pass the competency exams for BB 101 and BB 102 HYB 102 with scores of 80 or higher or c opt test out of the coursework and successfully pass the competency exams with scores of 80 or higher and d develop an online or hybrid course and complete the course review process For more information review the guidelines above or contact

    FSU are asked to follow the development procedures outlined on our website Procedures for Online Course Development Once this development process is successfully completed instructors will not have to repeat it for new course designs Instructors who did not become certified from the Summer 2010 Online Training Workshops or choose not to complete the FSU certification process are asked to follow the development procedures outlined below for each new course they wish to develop Why should I become certified to teach or develop online course This training and support will enable you the instructor effectively integrate and implement effective teaching technologies into your courses to enhance your online course management and teaching skills It also provides a faculty development opportunity that you can use in your Reappointment Promotion and Tenure binders How long does it take to complete the certification courses You will have four weeks from the time the course begins to complete both courses You may work at your own pace but if you have not completed all requirements and the competency exam at the end of the four week period you will need to re enroll in the next section How may chances do I get to take the competency exams If you do not pass the exam with a score of 80 you will need to re take the course s and complete the exam at the end What do the certification courses cover Blackboard 101 covers the basics of Blackboard Information will cover all the basics new instructors need to teach online courses Blackboard 102 covers online teaching Pedagogy or the best practices for teaching online as well as best practices for developing designing high quality online courses Will I have to re certified To ensure that all instructors stay abreast of the latest and
