    to submit an application with a 40 00 non refundable fee and to furnish one of the following credentials Official high school transcript or equivalency certificate Official transcript of any other university college technical institution junior or community college attended Applicants accepted as special visiting students must apply for full admission to the university when they earn 30 credits at FSU If you have at least a Bachelors degree and desire to take undergraduate courses for reasons other than earning a second undergraduate degree you must apply as a Professional Development student through our Graduate Admissions Office Special Visiting students receive their alternate pins for registration as well as year round campus support through the Office of Summer School Although you do not need permission to take summer classes at FSU final authority regarding transferability of courses and those courses that are applicable towards a particular degree rests with your home institution Please contact your academic advisor for assistance in securing a Course Approval or Request Permission for Course Transfer Form SPECIAL VISITING STUDENT CHECKLIST Prerequisites If the course desired requires a prerequisite please provide the Office of Summer School with 1 a transcript verifiying that the prerequisite was succesfully

    the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction NCDPI and are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools SACS and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education NCATE All programs are designed to prepare education professionals as facilitators of learning Teacher preparation programs are available in the School of Education the School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences Programs are offered in Birth through Kindergarten B K elementary education K 6 middle grades 6 9 secondary education 9 12 and special subjects K 12 Secondary programs include English mathematics comprehensive science Special subjects K 12 are physical education music and art The middle grades program requires a concentration in two of four areas language arts social studies science and math In addition to the teacher education requirements each subject area has specialty program requirements in the School of Business and Economics and the College of Arts and Sciences The Office of Teacher Education coordinates the teacher preparation programs with respect to field experiences admission to teacher education admission to clinical experience clinical experience assignments and licensure The licensure levels for teachers are B K K 6 6 9 9 12 and K 12

    12 Health and Physical Education Music Education Art Education Licensure Only Program Reading Special Education The School of Education also offers the Master s Degree in Education M Ed designed for educators holding a A level license and the Master of Arts in Teaching MAT designed for candidates with a baccalaureate degree in specific disciplines The M Ed program consist of a core of education courses with a concentration in one of the following areas Biology Education 9 12 Elementary Education K 6 Mathematics Education 9 12 Middle Grades Language Arts 6 9 Middle Grades Mathematics 6 9 Middle Grades Science 6 9 Reading K 12 Sociology Education 9 12 Special Education K 12 with emphasis in Behaviorally Emotionally Disabled Learning Disabled or Mentally Disabled In contrast to the M Ed the MAT is designed for unlicensed inexperience teachers who may benefit from a developmentally sequenced field base approach The MAT offers opportunity for an initial license in ten 10 teaching areas Biology Education 9 12 Social Science History Education 9 12 Mathematics Education 9 12 Middle Grades Language Arts 6 9 Middle Grades Mathematics 6 9 Middle Grades Science 6 9 Social Science Sociology Education 9 12 Special Education
