  • Minimum Course Requirements
    two 2 units of a language other than English In mathematics four 4 course units in any of the following combinations Algebra I and II geometry and one unit beyond Algebra II Algebra I and II and two units beyond Algebra II or Integrated Math I II and III and one unit beyond Integrated Math III It is recommended that prospective students take a mathematics course unit in the twelfth grade In science three 3 course units including at least one unit in a life or biological science for example biology at least one unit in a physical science for example physical science chemistry physics and at least one laboratory course In social studies two 2 course units including one unit in U S history but an applicant who does not have the unit in U S history may be admitted on the condition that at least three semester hours in that subject will be passed by the end of the sophomore year Six 6 units of electives from the areas of language literature mathematics science social studies or business Course units as defined in these requirements may include those high school level courses taken and passed by an applicant

  • Transfer Requirements
    not refundable Applicants for transfer admission are evaluated on the basis of their college record and must be eligible to return to the last institution in which they were enrolled Transfer students must meet the same entrance requirements as first time applicants Emphasis on the high school record diminishes in importance as more college study is completed The strength of the previous college s attended as well as the courses selected are factors in the evaluation process Transfer applicants are required to provide the Office of Admissions with transcripts from previous colleges universities two year institutions and secondary schools attended signed by the appropriate officials Even though no transfer of credit may be involved all previous post secondary experience must be certified by transcript or record of attendance To be eligible for admission at Fayetteville State University transfer students must be eligible to return to the institution last attended and have attained a 2 00 GPA or higher based on all courses attempted at all institutions Admission to the unversity does not guarantee admission to a professional teaching curriculum the Nursing Program or any program that has specific requirements Students are responsible for ensuring that all requested credentials are forwarded to the Office of Admissions prior to registration for the semester for which they wish to enroll Falsification of the application or of any academic records will make the applicant ineligible for admission or subject to dismissal if admission has already been granted Transfer students who graduated from high school beginning 1990 and beyond are required to meet the 1990 minimum admissions requirements of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina Exceptions are as follows Transfer applicants who have the associate of arts the associate of science or the associate of fine arts degree institution may waive

    we will not need your SAT scores 5 Are there a minimum number of college credits I must complete before applying to FSU Nope We do not require a certain number of credits however sometimes upon reviewing an application we may contact you to inform you of any admission requirements that may pertain to your situation If you do not meet our high school course requirements you may be asked to take specific college courses or if you have taken developmental courses and did not meet our high school requirements we may request additional college credits Students can speak with a transfer counselor if they would like to discuss their unique situations 6 I d like to talk with someone about the criminal justice program or psychology or biology etc We can discuss the FSU admission process with you as well as give you a general overview of the academic program If you have specific questions about a certain program or major we can refer you to the appropriate person in the department who will be better equipped to assist you 7 I already have a bachelor s degree but just want to take a class or two for teaching certification graduate school prerequisites etc Can I apply as a special visiting student or transfer student If you have at least a Bachelor s degree and desire to take undergraduate courses for reasons other than earning a second undergraduate degree you must apply as a Professional Development student through our Graduate Admissions Office 8 Can someone look at my transcripts and let me know what classes will transfer Due to the high number of applicants the Office of Admissions is unable to provide transcript evaluation Students will learn of their transfer credits after they have been accepted to FSU once

  • Acceptance of Transfer Credits
    one year of enrollment Appeals should be directed to the appropriate academic department Full credit will be awarded only for courses in which a grade of C or higher was earned and are non remedial or non developmental Transfer credits will be used to fulfill program requirements or as electives at the discretion of the appropriate department chair and dean Credentials for transfer students will be officially evaluated only after an applicant has been accepted and all official transcript s have been received Grades transferred from other institution s are not considered in computing the grade point average at Fayetteville State University No more than 64 hours of credit will be awarded for credits earned at a two year institution unless otherwise authorized by a specific dual enrollment or articulation agreement The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement CAA between the University of North Carolina System and North Carolina Community College System takes precedence over bilateral articulation agreements previously established between Fayetteville State University and North Carolina Community Colleges The university will accept transfer credits in accordance with the CAA relative to the General Education transfer core for graduates with the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree Transfer credit

  • Admission Guidelines
    the following conditions Degree seeking applicants will be classified as professional development non degree seeking students until they receive an admission decision regarding their application for the desired degree program Permission to enroll in graduate courses as a professional development student does not assure acceptance into the program Degree seeking applicants will be permitted to enroll as professional development students for one semester only while their applications are completed unless the appropriate dean or designee approves the student for up to one additional semester A maximum of twelve credit hours earned as a professional development student can be applied to a graduate degree program Students enrolled as professional development students are not eligible for financial aid Enrollment as Professional Development Non degree Seeking Students Individuals seeking to enroll in graduate courses for the purposes of self improvement must submit each of the following A completed graduate admission application A 40 00 nonrefundable application fee An official baccalaureate degree transcript and official transcripts from all other universities colleges attended Enrollment in graduate courses as a professional development student is subject to the following conditions Admission as a professional development student does not ensure admission to a graduate degree or teacher licensure program Applicants admitted as professional development students who decide to seek admission to a degree program must submit another application for admission No more than twelve credits earned as a professional development student may be applied to a graduate degree program Professional development students are not eligible for any type of financial aid including scholarships grants loans or work study Teacher Licensure Individuals who have already completed a baccalaureate degree and who wish to pursue teacher licensure will be considered for admission as undergraduate professional development students If admitted to the university students should contact the department in which they seek licensure to apply for admission to the teacher education program International Students Fayetteville State University welcomes applications from potential graduate students from other nations An applicant is considered an international student if he or she does not hold U S citizenship or resident alien status International students must submit each of the following A completed application form with a non refundable 40 00 application fee in U S dollars Certified copy of all post secondary records including marks grades awarded and grading scale with minimum passing mark If records are not in English a certified English translation must accompany the original document from the following nationally recognized agencies World Education Services WES Education Evaluators International Inc EEI or International Education Evaluations IIE An official score reports from Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL or International English Language Testing IELTS that is not more than two years old The College Board International Student Certification of Finances Guidelines form or scholarship letter no more than six months old addressed to Fayetteville State University verifying the availability of funds to cover tuition fees and other direct costs associated with enrolling at the university Fillable Form All other application materials required
